Daytona House Inn, right by the beach with 3 or 4 pools. Not 4 star luxury but clean and comfortable and within walking distance to a few restaurants and a mile away from that Downtown Disney type area (I forget the name of it, but it has loads of shops and restaurants). When I went in 2006, it was #6 0r #7 on tripadvisor.com for Myrtle Beach hotels.
