Re: Any moms have the Nissan Murano?
I had the Infinite Fx35 which is the same as the Murano and while I LOVED the car itself, to me it wasn't child friendly at all. I had the infant carrier behind the passenger seat and if someone sat in the front they were all the way up because their wasn't enough space between the back and front seats. It was only like that while he was in the infant carrier. For some reason it was a little better in the convertible and no problems when we turned DS around. Also, while he was in the infant carrier it felt awkward to put in and out of the car especially in a parking lot. I do know of someone who has the Murano with 2 kids and doesn't have any problems.
I know this may sound strange but I would take your entire infant carrier (base and all) and try it out in the car and see how you think it fits.

Re: Any moms have the Nissan Murano?
I absolutely love everything about my Murano. I got it when i was pg with my 1st DD.
Right now i have 2 Britax marathons back there, 1 forward facing and one rear facing, and Dh and I are still VERy comfy in the front seats, and I can fit in between the 2 carseats.
PLENTY of trunk space, we pack out that trunk everytime we travel to NY to see our family. I can fit my double stroller or two strollers back there and still go shopping. It's also great on gas, it gets the same gas mileage that my DH's Maxima used to. It's great in the snow, has great torque, and handles like a car. Plus the new murano got GREAT safety ratings by the insurance institute, side curtain airbags too.
I love it To me there is no cons When my lease is up on June 09, we're soo getting another one. The newer ones are soo much better than mine-back up camera standard, power everything. I have a late 05 model.

Re: Any moms have the Nissan Murano?
I had the FX 45 and I LOVED it BUT and big BUT there is NO room for a stroller and many other items you will need without it falling on you when you open the hatch. back seat- unless you have 2 very skinny people you can really only fit 1 comfortably back there with the carseat in the middle.
I have 2 friends that have the murano and HATE it!!!! b/c of the room. if you are traveling and need suitcase room and baby stuff forget it!

Re: Any moms have the Nissan Murano?
I have one and I'm so-so about it. I find there to be large blind spots when trying to change lanes and backing up. I have an '06 model and they did fix the backing up problem by adding cameras as standard equipment on all of them after '06.
I find it to be very roomy. I initially had the infant carrier in it and then the convertible carseat, rear-facing and now forward facing. I've never had a problem. We've always had the carseat behind the passenger seat though. If it were behind the drivers seat we would have had trouble when DH drove the car and put the seat back. But I always had the passenger seat back to give me leg room, and I never hit the carseat. There was even enough room for me to store the diaper bag and my pocketbook in front of my feet on the passenger side. I've had my sister visit with her 2 kids and we fit my nieces carseat plus my 10-year old nephew between the carseats with no problem.
I find the cargo area to be nice and roomy. I have my big Graco Quattro stroller back there and there is still plenty of room for shopping. I even had the stroller back there and a full size suitcase and there was still some room for packages.
I'm not really sure about gas mileage. It gets about the same as my 6-cylinder Accord, which is 7 years old. It gets roughly 18mpg. I know that they always advertise great mileage on the stickers, but 18mpg is "real". The display always tells me what the average is. When we go on road trips, we get about 22mpg. I don't really know how that compares to other vehicles.
All in all I have to say I'm pretty happy with it. When we went on vacation we rented a Jeep Grand Cherokee and I thought it was AWFUL!! We have soooo much more room in the Murano. HTH.
ETA: we always had the carseat on the side because the State Trooper who installed it said that since there aren't LATCH clips for the middle it should not be installed there. It is not safe to use the left clip from one and the right clip from the other. So we always used the LATCH clips on the passenger side.

I have to disagree with this. I have gone to NC 3 times with our Murano and packed it with a suitcase, the pack n play, an umbrella stroller and (twice) Christmas presents, plus other miscellaneous stuff I can't remember. We never had trouble fitting everything. Part of this is b/c I know I pack a car really well (I was always good at puzzles ), but considering all the big stuff we fit, I think there is plenty of room.

Re: Any moms have the Nissan Murano?
Thank you for your help. We are trying to decide on a new car and these reviews are very helpful. We actually test drove it with the car base and had no problems. It was a ittle roomier than my Toyota Highlander. I was concerned about blind spots. The back windo was small. The dealer told me that only the higher priced Murano has the camera at this time. The other ones all have sensors but the cameras were going to be a standard piece of equipment in up coming years. I will have to check that cause I would like to have that. This helps me out a lot- thanks again.
