ok...let me start over and maybe you girls can give me some ideas/perspective.
so we have a very small very BARE bedroom right now.
nothing on the walls, which are white. we have a coordinated beddressing set (if that's what you'd call all the stuff that goes on a bed) but that's IT.
white dresser. white side table. THEN END.
I want to decorate our bedroom as a gift to my dh for our anniversary since the second anniversary is cotton. we have a TWIN bed though...so finding anything besides a sheet is harder than I thought.
I only have about 6 hours of time to do the work and set everything up before he gets home.
I want to find something inviting, and more sexy than sweet. again HARD with a twin bed.
I am also on a budget...making it worse. Since we will soon by buying a home with a master bedroom, I don't want to go to crazy.
our bed is in one corner, the head on the wall next to the window, the lenght on one side touches the other wall.
we have an overhead light from Ikea on the wall of the head of the bed. I was thinking of putting a wedding pic of us above the bed on opposite sides of the light. Him on his side. me on my side.
on the lengthwise wall, I am putting a collage picture frame. I also want to put maybe some shelves for some candles. this is all in BLACK.
the other walls are basically useless. though I could put something on the wall at the foot of the bed.
Like I said, our room is WHITE...so all colors/ideas are welcomed.
I am sad and stumped b/c my idea went FUBAR when West Elm sent me a duvet that looked NOTHING like the magazine pick. so now I have precious few days, and can't find a damned thing.
anyway, if you've gotten this far, thanks for reading. thanks even more if you help me out.
and if you figured out who I am, please help me.
and if you are my DH and you figured out who I am...you better act surprised!

With only 6 hours, you may just want to paint a single wall with a deep color. Maybe a dark reddish behind the headboard wall. Much faster than painting the entire room, but really adds a huge impact.

I would say, do to BBB or LNT and look for things that are on sale or the Bed-in-a-bag set. Buy something that catches your eye. Then add the the pictures to the walls and the black accent shelves with candles. Place candles throughout the room - there is your romantic part. Maybe new colored sheers for the window. Maybe add a piece of artwork from BBB - they have great stuff and if you have 20% off coupons, you can save a lot of money. GL with your surprise.

thanks. I dont' have a LNT near me, but I went to Bed Bath yesterday...NADA in twin. I went to Target, Century, Marshalls and Burlington Coat factory. lovely things... but nothing other than sheet sets in twin...except for two quilts that looked a little too feminine..country cottage...not the look I am going for.
I am going to go to Macys tonight after work. I am not even bothering with West Elm C*B or Pottery Barn...the latter befing too $$ off the bat.
I guess I am doomed.

Have you tried getting a full set instead. I know I got a full set for college and the fitted sheet needed some work but everything else fit pretty well.

If you plan on buying a house soon with a master, why don't you just buy for the bed you plan on getting instead of wracking your brains for a twin? If you plan on getting a full or queen bed, just look for that size duvet. With your bed against the wall, it's easier to fudge the excess fabric by tucking more on the wall side.
As for the photos on either side of the bed...love the idea, but I would switch it - put your photo on his side, his photo on your side.
Pier1 has great accents as decent prices. Do you have a Home Goods by you?

I would love to, but our room is so small a larger bed wouldn't fit in our room right now...I kid thee not.
I thought about getting a full and having my mother in law do some work on it...but I was trying to avoid that.
looks like it may be my only hope.
I love your switching idea...thanks!
unless Home Goods is in the city, then no, I don't have one by me. Pier 1 is pretty close though. I love that store.

I'm sure you aren't doomed. The last poster made a good point about buying Full for right now. And if you have a HomeGoods near you that might work out for you. GL! By the way, when do you have to have this finished by? I hope Macy's works out for you. GL. Oh try JCPenny's too.

I didn't mean you should buy the actual bed now...just the bedding for the future bed. I think a full set would work for you.

oh duh. sorry. I am at my wits end. literally.
so, I can just put the excess kinda behind the bed, between the bed and the walls and it won't look sloppy?

If you can't find a bedskirt, just use a full sheet as a skirt - it is a cleaner look (and an old Martha Stewart trick ). If you're finding that it's annoying, just fold the duvet in half when making the bed.

BBB definitely has twin bedding ensembles. They have great Nautica bedding - all of that comes in Twin.
