Re: Any teachers expecting?
Wow! So many responses! Thanks Ladies!
My best case scenario would be to stop working around 12/15 (due 12/23) and take my 20 sick days, which would bring me into January and then take a couple of unpaid weeks until Sabbatical kicks in on Feb. 1.
That is if I get approved for a sabbatical, which is a slim chance.

How do you go about applying for FMLA? Can you still get this if you are untenured?
fmla is for all workers, regardless of district or tenure status.

i believe it's technically if you've been there at least a year, although i've never heard of my district not granting it.
every district is drastically different with what they offer--i'm so disappointed with my district.
i am due july 1 and am praying that i can go to the end of the year. i will then go back to work in mid-jan. so i will have 7 months with DS

Re: Any teachers expecting?
I am due at the end of July so I'll be due back, if is on time, the second week in September. I am a LI teacher and according to my union, we are given 6 week leave for a vaginal birth and they use your sick days while you are out as your ML days. Since, I am due over the summer they will only use my sick days for the first two weeks of September until I am due back. I plan on staying out until the beginning of November so, any days I use after my expected September return date, will be unpaid FMLA. The only way I can use additional sick days is if my doctor says I have to stay out until November on bed rest.

This is the same for me, I am due 8/6 and plan on staying out 6 weeks past when I finished using my sick days.
