Re: For everyone that works in NYC

Pros:
Meet so many people and great friends
After work activities: bar hopping, shopping, holidays, there is more opportunity in the city.

Cons:
Traffic, bums that smell like @ss, commute can really suck, a lot of people, it gets HOT in the summer.

for me:
pros:
everything is very close
can sleep on the commute
higher salary
variety of jobs
can actually drink during HH, public transporation rules! can even have a proper beverage on the train
people watching

cons:
tourists
if you're not used to a fast paced environment, you will get run down by the guy behind - i'm guilty of this myself. but you do learn to become a city walker in time.
tourists
depending on the area, can be extremely crowded.

as far as the commute, i actually have an easier commute from LI than i did from brooklyn, so the commute really isn't that bad, it just takes some getting used to.

good luck w/ the job search!!!

YEAH TOURISTS!
Put down the camera, and get the HELLL out of my way!

Pro: I make 15K more than on the island.
Get a lot of reading and sleeping done on the train
Shopping, shopping, shopping

Cons: Being dependant on public transportation. DH had an accident and had to say I'll see you in 90 minutes. Also you cant just leave 1/2 early to get somewhere 1/2 hour early. I have to make sure there is a train.
Getting bombarded by homeless people begging for change

It's all CON for me ...

long commute, having only three hours when I get home before going to bed, not being able to do the kinds of errands I did when I worked on LI, how much lunch costs, etc & so on ...
