If you're ever frustrated about teaching in NY, read this...
I teach in NC, and school is ending for us in 3 weeks. We had our last faculty meeting, explaining check-out procedures, etc.
Would you believe...
that WE are responsible for going through their cumulative folders and making sure they are complete????? We literally have to find time during the next few days to fill in any missing attendance info. on the front, as well as making sure all necessary records (birth certificates, ss card, etc) are in there!!!!!!! And literally, if something is missing, WE are responsible for calling the parent (or the child's previous school) to make sure it makes it in there before the end of the year.
I am just beside myself, because before I moved here, I had never even SEEN a student's cumulative folder!
So, if you're ever frustrated with your job...just think of me, staying late, doing what a bookkeeper is supposed to be doing.

if it makes you feel any better, i teach in nyc and am also responsible for housing and maintaining the students cumulative folders. ITA that its ridiculous.

We have that, too, in NYC, but our pupil secretary takes care of anything missing. We just have to make sure it's all there and if it isn't, we inform her.

YUP and fill in information such as height and weight and some other health questions which is BS

Ahhhh ok. I worked in a few districts on LI, and never had to do it. I guess maybe it's the norm in other places.
But honestly--we don't have ENOUGH TO DO??!!!!!

Yeah I really need to be filling in medical information on a freaking cumulative card...I went to school for teacher NOT nursing!
OH also you are screwed if you mess something up too...I was told we cannot use wite out because it's a legal document! I HATE even touching those cards and it really stresses me out in June when I have to fill them out
