I ran 12.5 miles...
this weekend on a flat trail in 1 hour and 51 minutes. I'm not even sore or tired... I guess this trail is only for speed workouts! It was beautiful though....

Re: I ran 12.5 miles...
How did you get started? How did you work up to running that long? I can only walk then run walk then run and not continuous running. I really would love to be able to run for a long period of time. It is so freeing.

I started walking and then incorporated running in by doing intervals. Then I worked my way up to about 2-3 miles constant running. Then I kept increasing it about a 1/2 a mile and this went on till I was up to about 4-5 and was over a few years. Then I ran my first 10k (6.2 miles) and decided to run a marathon. So I started with a base of 5 and over 18 weeks trained with a team until I got up to 26.2.
Now I can train on my own, i ran a half marathon not too long ago...so i am running about 6 miles 2 days a week and between 10-13 every weekend to stay in shape for a marathon this fall!!

WTG Robyn! Now that my training is over - I look forward to reading about yours! I'm glad that you found a good flat trail for training, I live on top of a hill and some days I just don't want to have to run up that hill to get home!
I only have a 10K in Sept and I'm thinking about another half in January.

Re: I ran 12.5 miles...
Wow, that is great! I usually run 3-4 miles a day (4-5 times a week), but my goal is to get up to 8-9 miles. Hopefully I can reach my goal before I get married this December, but we'll see.
Awesome job!
