BM storage Question

I have 3 day old BM (never frozen) in the fridge. Can I move it to the freezer? I don't need it until the weekend and part of next week. I hate pumping and don't want to pump new milk! Thanks for your help AGAINChat Icon Oh...I am bfing, but pump for when I'm away from DS which is not often.

Re: BM storage Question

I personally would not. As much as pumping isn't fun.... I would just bite the bullet and do it.

Especially b/c if you keep putting off pumping more... your supply will start to dwindle unless u are BF'ing.

Re: BM storage Question

You probably could. BM lasts up to 5days in the frdge. however I think I wouldnt. i agree I don't know your situation but if you stop or slow pumping your supply will slow unless that is what you want? I don't know if you pump or do both so it's hard to say. but no I wouldnt, just give it to DC now and the next pump freeze.

Re: BM storage Question

I would. I always keep some in the fridge and if I don't use it in a couple days, I move it to the freezer. My LC said it was fine but just to make sure it is not in there longer than it should be (anywhere from 5-8 days depending on who you ask).

Re: BM storage Question

just an idea if you are worried about it....why not have your DH give the bottle and while he does you pump a new bottle for the weekend.

that's what I do.
