Hi everyone!!!!!!Chat Icon

My EDD is Feb 5th but I will be having a c-section in January.

I was very crampy last week and had insomnia but this week nothing. I am a little worried that something is wrong.

I go for my first appt on Tuesday.

I also was tested for Fifth Disease on Monday so I am waiting for those results to come in. Hopefully today!!Chat Icon

Hey Allison!

How do you know already that you will be having a c-section? Is that something that preg women can elect to do, or do you have a medical reason?

Thanks! Chat Icon

I have to have them. I have rods in my back from back surgery and the way my rods are, I have to have one. Plus I had an emergency one with my DS 2 yrs ago from my Toxemia getting a little out of control.

Hey guys...DRINK LOTS OF WATER TODAY AND STAY OUT OF THE HEAT!!! I'm sorry about all the morning cramps...i didn't have them, but I couldn't get up this morning...I've never been this exhausted...I'm sure it also has to do with the fact that I'm not sleeping well at night anymore...I don't know if its just my mind racing with all this new exitement and worry, or the fact that my boobs hurt so much I cant sleep as comfortably on my tummy...its gonna be a long nine months!! But all worth it for our little pumpkins!!Chat Icon

Sore boobs and not being able to sleep are my only symptoms this week. Last week I was very crampy and it was freaking me out but it has gone away. I think I was over doing it.

I have been waking up at like 5am and not being able to go back to sleep. It is soo annoying.

I am keeping a journal of my symptoms this PG so I remember what is normal for me and what is not. When I was PG with Andrew, I only remember throwing up all the time, the minute I took the HPT until about 4 months laterChat Icon Chat Icon

I hope everyone is keeping cool todayChat Icon I decided to stay indoors today in the ACChat Icon

I don't have sore boobs either! That was one of my first signs that I was PG> My boobs usually are Killing me right after O and this time it didn't happen!

DH and I are going to a "Meet and greet" with the midwives and tour the birthing center on June 19th and then I get to make my first appointment. They don't do an actual exam until you are 8 weeks along or further!

I'm so excited Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Very exciting!!! What is making you choose the midwife route, if you don't mind me asking? Another rough night of crappy sleep and sore boobs in the way...I'm jealous of you girls with no sore boobs...they are a pain! Stay cool out there today!Chat Icon

I actually was considering going to midwifery school a few years ago but decided against it becasue teh crazy hours are hard when starting a family.

My main reasons for going with a midwife in a stand alone birthing center ( The center is accross the street from the hospital) was that I wanted to experience labor and delivery as naturally as possible and be surrounded by people that were going to support me in this. I want to labor without an IV, I want to eat and drink what ever I want. I do not want continuous fetal monitoring. I want to deliver in what ever position is comfortable for me whether it is squatting, on my hands and knees or in a tub. I wanted the availability of a tub for laboring purposes. I wanted someone that supposted me in having natural childbirth and therefore would have a lot of techniques to help me get through each set of contractions.

I did not feel comfortable delivering at home in case of an emergency but I personally did not want to be exposed to unecessary germs or have my child exposed as you do in the hospital. THe birthing center does not allow anyone in it if they have a cold or are sick.

THere is NO medication at the birthing center, no epidurals, no demerol or stadol. I wanted to be in a place where I wasn't tempted or would have nurses that would suggest medication but instead encouraged me to chenge position or use a birthign ball to get through a contraction.

THe midwives we are using will allow DH to get "hands on" in the delivery of our child as long as the delivery is progressing normally and he wants to, which he does.

Also you go home 4-12 hours after birth adn the midwives visit you at your home 24 and 48 hours after the birth for your post partum visits.

I know its not for everyone but I am very passionate that women be fully informed about labor and delivery and making a decision that they are comfortable with, whether a midwife, or OBGYN.

I know most women would think the opposite but I am LOOKING FORWARD to my labor and birth! I'm so excited to go through it and experience it!

Re: February Mommies to be Thread

THanks,

But its not about going natural or using some intervention. It is about making an educated decision and ebracing it. I know there is a chance that I may not be able to handle it and may need ot be transferred to the hospital for help. BUt I'm making an educated decision about what I want to do and being aware of what can happen and what my options are.

THere are so many women that don't realize what options they have and don't find out until its too late.

Like, If I do have to have an epidural, the hospital I would be tansferred to is a teaching hospital (not in NY) and I won't allow a resident to put in the epidural, I will request the attending anesthesiologist do it. I worked in a teaching hospital and I know that as a patients these are your rights, stuff like that.

Everyone stay cool today!

Sorry to intrude...
Im reading your posts and getting very nostalgic.
But I was a february 2008 mommy and I just want to wish you all best of luck! My due date was Feb 16th, but DS decided to arrive Feb 23rd. He is almost 4 months old now. I loved having a baby in february...you have those days in March April and May to enjoy before it gets really hot in the summer. Perfect for newborns!!!

Awesome news, and if you're only 4w2d, it;s probably too early for any symptoms including the boobe soreness - so don't feel left out! Chat Icon

Re: February Mommies to be Thread

Hi Ladies,

Is there room for one more?

I am a regular poster - and I got my BFP yesterday (after spending all of sunday night throwing up!).

I already have a DC, so even though I have been down this road before, I am still very nervous. I had a miscarraige not too long ago so whatever sticky dust you can throw my way I would appreciate it!

My EDD is either 2/14 or 2/15 - I am a little unsure since my cycles are either 30 or 31 days long. (I see a lot of us were busy on mem. day weekend!) Chat Icon

So far, besides the nausea and vomiting, my boobs are slightly sore by my armpits, and I have a LOT of cramping. I was also up at three last night and couldn't go back to sleep until 5am. At this point I welcome the symptoms since I have a huge fear of another miscarraige.

Oh and get THIS - I am already showing...a little. Both my Dh and BF told me they knew I was preggo because my belly has already gotten "soft"!

I wish you all a happy and healthy nine months...and looking forward to getting to know all of you!

I am a nervous wreck too. I think I know too much this time around and it is freaking me out.

I am going to the Dr today and maybe he can give me a quick sono just to calm me down. Even though I know I won't see anything probably.

I am joining this club hopefully! Chat Icon I just got my BFP this morning so I am being cautiously optimistic. I had one loss already so I don't want to jinx it by posting under my real screen name.

I am due February 12th based on when I ovulated. I am so excited!!!!

You guys and the TTC board are the first to know- I haven't even told my DH yetChat Icon I may surprise him on Father's Day since its so close.
