Treating Adult Thrush
After doing some research, I think that my dh may have thrush (he's been on antibiotics for 5 days, his lips are really swollen & he has a white coating all over his mouth & tongue that hurts). I'm taking him back to the doc on Monday, but I was wondering if there's anything that we can do to ease his pain in the meantime? I bought him yogurt & popsicles, but is there anything else that maybe we should do? I feel so bad for him - he won't eat & isn't drinking much TIA!

Re: Treating Adult Thrush
I think your supposed to avoid things like yougart, my mom gets it all the time. Go to the Dr. on monday and they will give him a swish and swallow, for now he should rinse with peroixde and spit it our, or warm salt water. there is also acidophilus that you can buy over the counter, and I know its supposed to avoid yeast infections when taking meds, so it might help a little. Good luck, I know my mom hates it!!

I disagree...I say yogurt--I thought it was a yeast infection... now I have to google it... I would still gargle with peroxide--and I would get acidolphilis from health food store and put the powder in my drinks...better then downing yogurt!

Thanks ladies!
I read that he should eat yogurt, but didn't see anything about gargling with peroxide...should we cut the peroxide with water or is it straight-up?
Thanks!

Awesome - thanks so, soooo much ladies!! I picked up acidophilous pills at GNC earlier & I'm going to try & convince him to gargle with the peroxide. He thinks that it will sting too much & that the pain isn't worth it. I'm trying to convince him that it will be

Oh gross!! Of course my dh had finally gone & done a rinse...only to have me tell him "Wait!!! Don't do another one until you ask your doc if it's ok!!!" Poor guy - I caused him more stress. I definitely wouldn't make a good nurse!
