12 mths + transitioning to crib when asleep

i know that it is best to get dc to go to sleep from the awake state in their cribs, but it generally does not happen with mine.

i bf them and they usually fall asleep at the last nursing session. dh is at work when i do bedtime, so it's just me and it is getting harder and harder to transfer them both at the same time to the cribs.

when they were little, i could easily carry them both, now with their sizes and being asleep, it's like dead weight.

anyone else struggle with this? what do you do?

tia!!!

can you lay one down on the floor or bouncy seat and put them down one at a time?

thank you!! thank you!!

it's not that much different than you or anyone else extending nursing past one year old. i mean you have two boobies anyway!! Chat Icon

seriously though, 99% of the time, i nurse them together and we are roughly doing about 3 sessions per day.

Can you maybe put one in a swing or bouncer while you put the other one in the crib?

oh no!! that all worked when they were little. they don't fit in a swing or bouncer anymore!! Chat Icon

that's the point, now that they are big, they are not easy to just put anywhere while asleep while moving the other.

thank you though for the suggestion christine, soon your twins will be giant too!!! Chat Icon

Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon I agree with Janice.

I'm still BFing my 14 month old. So even though I'm not a twin mommy, maybe I can help. Where are you when you BF them to sleep- bed, chair...

because i am nursing the two at once, we have to do it on the couch. they both lay in the football hold on pillows on both sides of me.

i have done it in their bedroom in the glider, but i don't like to anymore, because they are so big now and it's really tight and awkward and i feel like one of them can fall.

after they fall asleep, i lift them and carry them on each shoulder. they are getting sooooooo heavy, and when they are asleep it feels like dead weight.

I'd place one on the couch & put a barrier up so they can't fall. If they are sleeping they won't budge. Then put the one in their crib & then get the other. If you have a pack n play in your living room put that beside the couch.
