The only dogs that really do not shed are hairless dogs.

Really? my dog does not shed at all? She is also considered a low allergy dog.. I would never say hypoallergenic because I do not believe any animal is. My DH has no problems with her at all and he is very sensitive to dog hair and shedding due to his terrible allergies.

I have a havanese and she is great with kids. They are known to be great family/companion dogs. She is also a hypoallergenic dog so there is hardly any shedding. FM me if you'd like more info on them.

Is your dog a dog with hair not fur? When I looked this up online, it said that they all shed, but I have heard people say that the dogs that have hair really don't. I am pretty sure that my grandmother's poodle shed just a little, though.

My point is really that the small dogs with short fur can shed a lot. My dachshund and my inlaws Jack Russell both shed a lot.

ETA: Also, of the dogs that I happen to know, the bigger dogs are much better with kids. Any type of dog may be good or bad.

I have a kelpie/lab mix and a collie. The collie obviously has LOTS of hair and sheds ALOT, but his hair seems to be easier to vacuum off the rug then the mix's. I think because his is more fluffy it can't work it's way into the carpet like the small, thin, striaght hair of a lab.

If it's allergies, I know a women who has a mini schnauzer and she has really bad allergies but the schnauzer doens't bother her. She said it was that or a maltese. Also, mini schnauzers are supposed to be great family dogs and very loyal.

I have a shih tzu and she does not shed. The only hair I see come out of her is when I brush her, but I have yet to see hair on the furniture.

Shih tzus are so good with kids, my dog seems to know the difference between kids and adults and she is all kisses when kids come over.

This would be by second choice of dog if I were ever to get another one.. I love the havanese as well.. I believe both maltese and havaneses are from the same families. Great loving beautiful dogs as well.
