Re: Corneal ulcer
I had one..do you wear contacts? If so, basically, dirt got lodged under it and created an ulcer. I had to do two different types of drops (one was basically eyedrop neosporin and the other was an ulcer eyedrop) and not wear contacts for a while and now drs. can't tell I ever even had one. You just need to make sure your contacts are CLEAN (I now use contacts I replace twice a month) and you'll be ok..FM if you have any questions, feel better, and get used to your glasses!
ETA that I had to put in the drops every couple of hours

Re: Corneal ulcer
DH is recovering from having two very bad ones in the same eye.
I hope your ulcer won't be as serious as DH's. It's not something to take lightly. Do exactly what your ophthalmologist says -- including seeing a cornea specialist -- and call the doctor immediately if anything seems to get worse.

Thank you. I hope your husband feels better. Can I ask where to find a cornea specialist? I went to an ophthalmologist today and am seeing him again tomorrow and maybe Saturday too.

DH's ophthalmologist gave him the name of a specialist on his second visit when his eye was not healing as expected. Neither of us had any idea that there was such a thing. If you search the websites for major hospitals (NY eye and ear infirmary, NY eye, ear, nose hospital, and I think north-shore LIJ) you'll find that within their depts of ophthalmologies they have cornea services.
good luck -- I hope your eye is doing better.

Thank you for the info. So sorry about your husband. I went back a day after the start of antibiotics and it was healing. I see someone again this week.

Re: Corneal ulcer
I had one a few years back. It was sooo painful!!!
I had 2 different drops and a cream to put under my lower eyelid.
The eye dr. could still see scarring from it for about a year, but I recently went for a LASIK consultation and he didn't see anything on my eye
Glad you're feeling better.
