Where to eat at Disney?

Completely overwhelmed with choices for Eating.

We have the Deluxe Dining plan (got it for a steal)
and this is what I have so far:

FIRST DAY--NOTHING BOOKED YET-we need lunch and b-fast

SECOND DAY
Ohana character Breakfast 8:20 am
Hoop Dee Doo Revue 7:15 pm

THIRD DAY
Chef Mickey's (someone reservation swapped with me!)
10:45 am
Princess Storybook lunch at Epcot (11:30 am) CONFLICT
California Grill 9:50 pm (for seeing Wishes, but this is too late, no?)

FOURTH DAY
NOTHING BOOOKED YET
we need b-fast and lunch

FIFTH DAY
NOTHING BOOKED YET
we need b-fast and lunch

OF COURSE I plan this with two months notice and think this is fine and OF COURSE there is the free dining promotion that I missed out on...

Help me find some yummy places to eat.

Where are you staying?

For breakfast, popular places include:
Crystal Palace at the Magic Kingdom
Breakfasaurus or whatever it's called in Animal Kingdom
Port Orleans Riverside has a good breakfast if you are staying there.
Cape May Cafe at the beach club

Lunch:
Beaches & cream at the Beach Club
SciFi Cafe or Prime Time Diner in Disney Studios
Liberty Tree Taven at the MK is pretty good

The free dining plan jams up a lot of restaurants but keep calling if you can't get what you want, people cancel & change things all the time.

Re: Where to eat at Disney?

Thanks.

I am staying at the Coronado Springs Resort.

Any places at Epcot. The poor people at Disney Dining, I have literally called three times today alone! But there is some movement.

PLUS, on disboards.com they swap reservations, which appalled me until I got somethingChat Icon The fact that you can make reservations at 180 days before screws any chance of people who book two months in advance (like me Chat Icon )

Especially with the free dining -- the restaurants are packed! The parks will be a delight though.

I am drawing a blank on Epcot restaurants. Let me think & I'll come back. Chat Icon

Re: Where to eat at Disney?

If you need an Epcot restaurant Le Cellier is nice, it is a steakhouse in the Canadian section we have been there a few times. The Coral Reef is supposedly very nice as well, i have never been there though

We LOVED Rose & Crown at Epcot. We went for dinner(8pm) and requested to sit outside and had a wonderful view of the Illuminations show!

The Princess storybook.... is this the Akershus (Norway) restaurant? We had dinner here- enjoyed it. We couldn't get into any of the other princess character restaurants for dd so we went with this and she LOVED it. She got to meet 4 or 5 princesses and they did photos with Belle(the others came around to your table).

Okay if you want to eat in EPCOT -

There is Coral Reef (which is nice b.c you can look at the fish tanks while you eat).

If you like steak - Le Cellier
Mexico has the San Angel inn - which is okay food but the atmosphere is really great - it is like eating in an outdoor market on the river at night - with stars on the ceiling, the mexican ride runs right next to the tables, and in the background is a nice temple and sunset.

Marrakesh in Morroco has a fun restaurant with music and belly dancers

france has Chefs de france which is pretty good.

England is Rose and crown which is like pub food, bangers and mash, fish and chips etc.

China - has Nine Dragons but that is closing soon (if it hasn't already)

Japan has a habachi place if you like places like shiro and gasho.

Garden Grill has a character lunch (it is a revolving restaurant over living with the land ride).

Italy has Tutto Italia.

Akurshus (sp?) in Norway is good - the food is eh but it is a princess theme with characters.

Germany has the biergarden (but you will sit at a large table with others if that is something you don't mind)

If you want to eat outside of EPCOT let me know and I can make more suggestions.

there was a promotion they offer it 1-2 times every year (usually Aug and part of Sept). You had to book the promotion by sometime back in June.

If you go to mousesavers.com You can see what codes are currently out there for WDW packages etc.

Also disboards.com is a great website they are good about predicting future codes and getting ideas of when to go when you can save some money

Re: Where to eat at Disney?

Thanks everyone...

I don't JUST need Epcot. Any restaurant recs would be great. Le Cellier is a hot ticket. But I will try Rose and Crown.

I did get the princess lunch at Akersuss (whatever way you actually spell it) the day we arrive and I have two mickey breakfasts now (one at Ohana and one at Chef Mickeys)

any other great suggestions...anywhere that has great food really.

Oh and how is Tusker house (NON-CHARACTER) for say lunch or dinner) at Animal Kingdom?

We liked Whispering Canyon cafe in Wilderness Lodge. The food was good- western/BBQ (we had the family style served skillets, all you can eat). The servers get the crowd involved(for some maybe a litle too much) but dd loved it(she was 6 ys old)!!

I really wasnt a fan of the food at Ackershaus (SP?) at all... i know they have the princess' but there's so many better places to eat... not sure if any others have the princess' though, so i guess it would be worth it for Bella. I mean, i was 24 at the time, no kids and still loved it Chat Icon

Just a heads up though- i think that the California Grill and the Hoop-dee-doo both require you to use 2 table service meals each, so right there, it would use up 4 meals each for you and DH.

How many days are you going for? B/c i *think* even w/ the deluxe dining plan, you only get 1 table service per day, and it looks like w/ the ADR that you have, that you already have 7 table services set up? (i could be wrong though- DH is the WDW expert in the fam) Chat Icon

we actually get 3 TS a day with Deluxe Dining and Bella is free. Plus on the 5th day we are only around until 3, so we have an extra meal to burn as well as on the first day when we get in at 10.
And Ackerhaus is PURELY for the princesses as I was shut out of CRT and 1900 Floridian (well, so far)

Any other suggestions would be awesome from experts Chat Icon

Nice!! Sorry about my misinformation- i totally read the page wrong Chat Icon (i thought it just said additional snacks- which, in hindsight, doesnt make much sense).

Ackerhaus is fun... and the place is adorable! DH liked the food alot (its very seafoody- being Norway and all) Chat Icon

no problem...we only got it because it was 15 bucks more than the regular plan TOTAL and I was so mad we missed free dining because of course I plan things at the last minute...and Disney does not work well with that!

it's a LOT of food, but the snacks can also be used for waters and drinks, which we HATE paying for at the park!
Plus, we get unlimited drinks in some special cup too.

Now, I am just trying to plan everything and it's hard Chat Icon

Re: Where to eat at Disney?

It STINKS that you missed out on free dining. We went in mid-September last year and were able to take advantage of that.

But, if you're staying at Coronado Springs, I think you might be surprised at the dining choices at the hotel. They offer a lot of different options, and it's way better (IMO) than the food options at the budget resorts.

We, like you, planned our meals around which parks we were visiting. But honestly, some days we were just too tired and appreciated the option to eat back at the hotel.

The pool at Coronado was great too. Bella will really enjoy it. I especially like the water slide! Chat Icon
