Powder formula mommies

A few questions. Do any of you use the playtex drop ins? Is it just as easy to mix in there? And what type of water do you use, and do/did you have a routine for middle of the night feedings with it? Like have something set up near the bed? I'm trying to make my life easier since our bedroom us upstairs and the RTF is in the fridge and I have to go down and warm it up, etc...I'm wondering if the powder would be easier. Thanks!

Re: Powder formula mommies

when DS had night feedings, on his dresser I would put powder in a bottle. I would then have the small bottles of nursery water (or a pitcher of nursery water). At first signs of him waking, I would go in, mix the formula quick, grab him and feed him. Soooo easy.

Thanks! With powder don't you have to pour the water in first?

Re: Powder formula mommies

I didn't. the 1/4 oz difference (or less) wasn't a big deal to me in the middle of the night.

I usually made a pitcher (I boiled water) then added the formula and would make all my bottles for the day (or night).

I used to put the water in the bottle, and then used the premeasured powder dispenser thingy, so all I had to do was add powder, shake and feed, that way I didn't even have to turn the lights on.

We have the bottles upstairs in the nursery with the bottled water already in them (yes we use the drop ins). Then when he woke up, we threw in the powder and shook it up. This makes it much easier than going downstairs to heat up the RTF formula. Chat Icon

This is exactly what I do...

I bring up 3 bottles with water in them and the dispenser (DS feeds at 12am, 3am and 6-7am).

Here is the dispenser I use

I would keep a bottle of Poland Spring and the can of powder in my bedroom. At night before I went to sleep I would poor the right amount of water and when my DD woke up I would scoop the powder, shake and serve!
