Tennis anyone?

DH is getting us rackets today and we're hitting the courts tomorrow for tennis. We're very into expanding out workouts and trying new things. Neither of us really know how to play - at least I really dont!

Is it a good workout? Anyone play? Any tips would be much appreciated!

it's a great workout....especially when you suck as badly as I do Chat Icon

I would suggest going for at least a few lessons, just to get the form right. dh and I did this last year.

I am so amped up from Wimbledon and the French, that I want to get back to it.

I love tennis.

I played from the time I was 10 until middle of HS. I was never awesome but enjoyed it.

Once in a blue moon DH & I will play now ... but he wants to play real matches and I just want to hit the ball around, so we actually fight about it! Chat Icon

DH used to be a tennis instructor and man, he'd whip me when we would play. I sweat like crazy!

I like to play every now and again - it's nice to switch things up! Played with DH and another couple last week for an hour and half! It was a great workout Chat Icon

I used to play in middle school and high school. Once in a while DH and I will go out and hit some balls. I used to be okay, not anymore. It's a great workout. I hate to run, but the running in tennis isn't so bad.

Re: Tennis anyone?

I love playing tennis. We play every chance we get. Don't forget your sunglasses (it's tough to look up & serve on a sunny day) and also lots of water (we bring a big thing of ice water & drink it when we take a break). When you first start, practice your serve a lot because that can be tough to get the hang of. I don't have many tips (I'm not the best tennis player out there but we enjoy it) but I do agree about taking lessons if you can. It's an AWESOME workout! have fun Chat Icon

Sunglasses, water, serve - check! Thanks, we're hitting the court tonight and I'm really looking fwd to the workout - I"m sure since I usually run and strength train I'll get a chance to work on some underused muscles...I'm excited!!Chat Icon

I play casually with my good friend from time to time - we are more into lobbying and the next day my arms always hurt!

Re: Tennis anyone?

I played tennis for over 10 yrs. and have to say I was in the best shape of my life b/c you are using all your muscle groups and constantly moving. I bought DH a racket to try and get him to play with me but we never got around to it Chat Icon
