clothes size

I'm sure its been asked before but what are your recommendations on what size clothing to buy to start out with and to last me a couple of months. Twins are due in early november, I think its going to be a looonggg winter for me.

Twin Boy - has absolutely no clothes as of right now

Twin Girl - has a ton of 0-3 month stretchies and a couple of newborn sizes from DD.

do i buy some preemie? or just stick with newborn?

DD was only 6lbs 1oz when she was born at 41 weeks, i'm carrying small again this time I think.

also, coming home outfit? preemie size?

Re: clothes size

I had boys at 5 lbs 7ozs and 6lbs. I brougt "coming home outfits" that were way too big. I wound up bringing them home in NB Gap outfits that were very big on them.

The first week, I ran out to BRU and brought a lot of preemie outfits. It cost me about $100 for those outfits, but they lived out of them the first few weeks. You change their outfits at least three times a day (if not more) so I think I brought like 10 of them and it wound up being perfect. It goes fast how much they outgrow them, but they are needed. I remember crying when I got home with them because all the NB and 0-3 months were so big on them. Once i got the preemie outfits it was perfect. But I think they lasted no more then three weeks. I wound up sending them to DH's friend who had a preemie.

Re: clothes size

I'd start out with NB mostly and a few premie outfits. I remember washing the newborn outfits but leaving the premie on the washing machine for my DH to wash depending upon the weight of the babies.

I do remember an unbelievable growth spurt sometimes in the first two months.

Same here with the clothes. My BF gives me everything for DD. No one else I know has an older boy, same season, so all of DS's clothes are new. Wait until DD finds out somedayChat Icon

ETA: I now realized you said you carry small. Then definitely buy several premies, was a few, and return the others if you don't use them.

Re: clothes size

My daughters wore a few preemie outfits. And also NB for the first 2-3 months. (Even though they weren't preemie) 0-3 seemed to run really big IMO.
Wal*Mart has preemie clothes & they are not that expensive. (Sears does as well) I would get 3 outfits each. And if you need more Have someone pick them up after.

Re: clothes size

I had mostly newborn size. This fit them for about 5 or 6 weeks. Then they went into 0-3 months.

I didn't even think to buy preemie clothes. I had to go to BRU the day after I came home to get DDs some clothes. Their pajamas were swimming on them and I was afraid they would suffocate during the night. Chat Icon They wore the preemie size for about 2-3 weeks, then 0-3 months and newborn. Then they were true to size for the first year of their lives. HTH!
