Eye Floaters

Hi Girls,
I'm wondering if any one else experiences eye floaters. They look like ameoba's (sp) floating in my eye sight. I got an eye exam and they said my vision is perfect. The Dr. then wanted to do a dilation check, but I got nervous about having my pupils dilated, so I refused it. Now I regret it because the floaters seem to be getting worse. Has anyone dealt with this ?:

Re: Eye Floaters

I always have my pupils dilated, it's really no big deal. I have floaters also, they look like clear gel things in my vision, like when I look at a light surface or the sky, etc...it doesnt hinder my vision at all. Doc said nothing serious.

go have your eyes examined & dilated.

this*could* be something serious like a detached retina or it could just be eye strain but you should have it checked.

ditto...my brother had them for years and when he finally did something about it, he had detached retinas.Chat Icon

Re: Eye Floaters

Why wouldn't you have your eyes dilated? Is there some danger in that? I've had that done a lot of times without issue.

I know someone who had them in one eye and it has something to do with the fluid in her eye - something common with age. She also saw flashing lights and they said if it got worse, she needed to come in immediately. The same day it happens.

It didn't get worse but now it is happening in her other eye too. She's sensitive to headlights and driving at night.

Don't be silly and go get checked out fully! Chat Icon

I have eye floaters from time to time. My eye doc tested me for a detached retna and everything was fine. He said it can often happen when you sneeze or cough hard. I get it a lot during allergy season. HTH!

Re: Eye Floaters

a lot of people have eye floaters - totally normal; however, as PP stated, go and get it checked out - find out what they are.

Re: Eye Floaters

I'd get them checked out. It could be a sign of something else.

I've had my eyes dialated 3 times in the last two weeks and though it is annoying, it is not painful and they are fine in a couple of hours.
