Milk Allergy in One Year Old
My DS appears to have a milk allergy. At one year, we switched him to organic cow's milk and he vomited every time he drank it. We also tried Lactaid, but the same thing happened.
My pedi said that soy milk does not have the appropriate amount of fat for a one year old and suggested soy formula, but most of the soy formulas that I have seen in the stores are for 0 -12 month olds.
Did anyone else deal with this issue? What kind of milk did you give to your DC? Any advice would be much appreciated!!

I know I have seen that Nestle/Carnation makes a toddler formula, for kids 12-24 months old. They may have a soy version, I am going food shopping in a few, I can take a look if they make a soy version.
ETA: I just found online Similac Go & Grow Soy Based Formula for 9-24 months.

Enfamil makes ProSoBee in Next Step form (9-24 months).
However, you can buy fortified soymilk that has the added fat and vitamins needed. I use Silk Omega-3 enriched soy milk for DD. There is also a Silk that is made for children, but I chose the Omega-3 because its fat content is a little higher.

That's what we use too. Plus he eats plenty of other things that have fat in them.

Re: Milk Allergy in One Year Old
Honestly, I think that your ped. should have suggested a specific formula and probably should have sent you to a GI doctor. I hate when they let things like this go on. They hear from the formula reps. so they have a better idea than we do about the various formulas.
We are transitioning from Elecare to Pediasure. Pediasure is for kids over 1 but our GI doctor told us to get started on it. It does not contain lactose but it has other milk proteins. I do have to call and ask some questions about whether it has enough iron. My mom got a sample of a similac formula for kids over 1 but I haven't looked at the label.

Re: Milk Allergy in One Year Old
We actually just found out that my son has a milk allergy..we found out when he turned one. We started cows milk...long story short...he had hives around his mouth. We got him tested and he IS allergic to milk. The allergist said to avoud ALL dairy products for now. Just to let you know, my formula is Good Start...son has been on that since 4 months. I read it the other day and it says milk based...strange!!
