Re: Those whose DCs were on alimentum or nutramegen
Spitting up TONS, horrible gas, slight reflux.
It was a night and day difference when we switch. Target has a generic version of the Alimentum that is EXACTLY the same and it is only 14 a can. In case you were worried about the cost involved.

Re: Those whose DCs were on alimentum or nutramegen
reflux, spitting up A LOT, fussiness, crying...
Min we put her on Alimentum, 2 days later...complete change.
Then I went through Apria (insurance) to get the formula covered for a whole yr.

Re: Those whose DCs were on alimentum or nutramegen
colic, spitting up a lot, fighting the bottle, screaming with burps and hiccups, loud and smelly gas that made her scream, reflux that you can hear, etc. It made a difference very quickly but she still spits up quite a bit (Alimentum is thin)...we're starting to add oatmeal cereal now.
ETA: our insurance covered it 100% too, through Home Care Supply.

Re: Those whose DCs were on alimentum or nutramegen
My dc doesnt really spit up, he has colic, crazy gas and a crazy amount of poops. Our ped recommended soy formula for a week and then she might switch us to the alimentum. I would like that since the insurance might cover it.

Re: Those whose DCs were on alimentum or nutramegen
my insurance covered it when the diagnosis was colic and gastritis. I'm sure they would have covered it with the reflux diagnosis too. We tried Gentlease and Sensitive before Alimentum but not Soy.

Re: Those whose DCs were on alimentum or nutramegen
I started my son on this yesterday for excessive gas and constant screaming. He is already doing much better today. However, he has not pooped since he started it. Waiting for doc to call back about that.

It's too early for him to regulate his body. It took my son a couple of days on it before he started pooping regularly. Now he poops around the same time... every day.
*my son had the same constipation problems as yours!

Re: Those whose DCs were on alimentum or nutramegen
Gas, constipation, mild reflux, dad is lactose intolerant - with my first son and went to alimentum. Had similar less the reflux with my second son but went to lactose free and was fine. Both had whole milk issues and are on soy milk at a year when I transitioned.

Re: Those whose DCs were on alimentum or nutramegen
My DD was on it solely due to extreme eczema. She needed the hypoallergenic formula.

Re: Those whose DCs were on alimentum or nutramegen
Terrible gas pains, screaming in pain....excessive vomit, and tons of diarrhea. Allimentum didn't work because our DC's allergy was so out of control that we ended up having a prescription for Neocate (EXPENSIVE!!! Something like $33 for one can that lasted maybe three days). She stayed on the Neocate for about one month until her digestive tract matured, and then we switched back to the Allimentum. Now, she is 5 months, and has been doing well on the Allimentum for the past three months.
