is this tacky?
We've decided on a bedding pattern that is from a different site on the internet. We are still going to register at BRU. My mom thought to buy the bedding we want and then offer it to close friends to give....like pay her for it and then she'd give it to them to give as a gift. I know my grandma would jump on this b/c she never knows what to get and would probably feel better just giving money.
What do you all think? Is it tacky to ask?

Not at all.
DH and I do this with our family all the time- we did it with wedding registry, Christmas gifts...

i think in the family it's okay, outside of family it may be a bit awkward depending on relationships.
i know we will buy the stroller and carseat, but DH's mother wanted to contribute and buy it for us. we'll pick it out and buy it, she'll probably give us the $$$...
my mother picks things out for my grandmother to give all the time. when she doesn't, grandma just gives us cash.

Same here. Last time ILs paid for the crib and this time they are getting Sarah's new bed. My mom gave us money for a double stroller this time, last time she paid for my shower, as well as a bunch of other smaller items for the baby and the room.

We bought our bedding ourselves.
But if its just your Grandma, then I think that's fine that your Mom buys it for her. But i wouldnt offer it to friends.
