Hey, I have absolutely no shame nor qualms about selling on ebay.
There was a time I felt bad that people had to spend ungodly amounts of money bcause they couldn't get it in the stores, but then I realized, that's their decision to do so.
First, my kids are too young, and whenever we put Elmo near them, they cry.
I'll list it on ebay and start the auction for the exact amount I paid for it.
After that, it goes to the highest bidder. Like I said, I'm not MAKING these people spend extra money on this thing - it's their decision to do. Really not my problem
This may not be popular, but it is what it is.
I agree 100%....if people want to spend the money , that is their perogative

and I know the argument there is that the parents don't have a choice, because you can't disappoint a kid on christmas
Newsflash: Yes you can
I remember several times where I wanted the hot toy, and my parents just couldn't find it. During the Santa era, I got a note from Santa saying that he couldn't get mine in time, or that it couldn't fit on the sleigh. In its place was a GC to Toys R Us and as soon as it came in, I got it.
After the Santa era, parents gave me an IOU. I usually got so much stuff on Christmas it didn't bother me, and by the time I turned around, it was in stock and I got it.

I actually think what your parents did was BRILLIANT and I plan to use that line in the future with leaving a GC for the item for when its in stock.
I dont agree with buying more then what you need bc you can make a pretty penny. I might say do what ya want in other cases but when it comes to kids and toys, I think we should leave the kids out of it.

Re: Did anyone buy an extra Elmo live to sell on ebay
I know people say its capitalism and all but I see it more as greed. If we did this with everything that was in high demand we would be in trouble.
I feel bad that a kid who really wants it parent has to spend likely more to get it because they weren't fast enough or on time etc.
I want it b/c my son loves Elmo...When I went to get it tonight , there was no more left and I wasn't spending my gas money or shipping fees to get it..and that's sad if I think someone bought it just to try to sell it to me at a higher price. I mean why else but for the money would you buy more then one to sell?
I'm NOT SAYING I'm right and anyone who does it is wrong, because I get that like I said before, in today's times, making money really is all about opportunities and seizing them.
I just don't like the practice and wanted to explain why.

Blame Fisher Price. They know everyone is going to want one but they don't have enough made for Christmas.

If anyone is still looking for one, I was in Target Levittown yesterday and they had a bunch, and today TRU Massapequa had a whole pallet right by the front door. $60 in both stores.

They had them in TRU today in Melville - next to Buy Buy Baby.
Oh - and I showed it to Jack - and he started cracking up -- so THAT is why I'm buying it --- not because it's the "in" thing to purchase!

Re: Did anyone buy an extra Elmo live to sell on ebay
yes I bought 2, one for DS ( he will only be 3.5 months on christmas) and an extra one. If we can't sell it , I will give it to my nephew as a gift. Otherwise I will be selling it on ebay or craigslist. If they are going for a lot of $$ DS might not get his either
ETA : to the PP who said to blame fisher price, you are right. these companies always do this before christmas and never make enough. Look what happened with the Wii last christmas, it was insane!

I have seen them sell for as little as $63 with free shipping and as much as $120
I PERSONALLY would never pay 120 for it but apparently there are people that will

I agree it's not a game, but for some people, it IS their livelihood. My sister is a single stay at home mom and is able to do so because of her sales business (she's more amazon, but used to be ebay.) For her, making money and being home for her daughter, is a win-win situation. She shops like a maniac and works tons of hours at home listing and shipping. If she makes more than the toy sells for in the store, I really feel she deserves it. She may not have an office job, but she still works her tail off. This is a full business for her. she even hires help during the Christmas season.

Do you really think they are gonna be flying off the shelves as it gets closer to Christmas? I remember there was another elmo doll that was the hot thing a few years ago. If this is the case, I am going to go back to BJ's and buy them all

I dont think its going to fly off the shelves now or closer to christmas.. not sure if it really is going to be this "in" toy that everyone is saying it is.. just looks like an ordinary elmo doll. I did order one but b/c dd loves elmo, wont watch him on tv, but my nephew has one that dances and she LOVES him!! so thought she would get a kick out of him.. She has an elmo doll already that does nothing and carries him around everywhere and sleeps with him.

Seriously it's a doll, no child will be scarred because he/she does not get Elmo Live this year.
Some people make a living and feed their children form the moeny they make from selling this items, that also is not a game.
