Any nurses out there?
JCAHO is coming to my hospital soon and I have been waking up every morning asking myself questions that they might ask. I'm totally freaking out over the stress. I'm obsessed and I feel dumb, like I know nothing. Does this happen to anyone else? I get nervous enough trying to teach my student how to do things and explaining things to her but to do it for REAL in front of JCAHO. UGH how can I get over the stress and has anyone been through this to ease my mind????

Re: Any nurses out there?
I've been through it as an HR person. It's definitely stressful and exhausting.
Do you already definitely know that you'll be in front of the reviewers? The reviewers want to see that: - there are documented procedures in place, - you've been trained on the procedures, - you demonstrate following the procedures, and - the hospital can prove you've followed the procedures through some documentation or an objective measure.
Some more tips: 1. Be honest. 2. Don't elaborate or talk about anything beyond the exact thing they ask. If they ask you for A, show them A, not A, B & C. 3. Make sure your nursing license is current and on file with the hospital 4. Wear your ID badge
good luck!!!!!
