honestly I would take the job, in this market you don't really know what other offers might come your way and what else you might have to sacrifice w/ any other future offers.
I'd take the make up class on Saturdays since its something you've wanted to do anyway.
is it 10K less than you made in the city? or 10K less than you wanted? if its less than the city, just remember you won't be dealing w/ the train and won't be paying for a metrocard every month

Everyone I know who has a comparable job on LI vs. the city usually makes less for the same job.
I agree about this market, you do not even want to know how many of my family members have been laid off since Oct 1 and how many more face possible lay-offs... all with very good jobs and almost 20 plus years experience... I would take the job, take the Saturday class and do whatever you have to do.

I have to agree with you there-the job market is veryyy shaky right now, and I really don't know of any other jobs right now....
I actually just found out, a friend of mine is doing the same job basically, for a hospital in the city n shes making 2k less...so I guess its around the right salary!

I wanted to add that I took at 25K pay cut to go back to LI a few years ago.
I didn't stay there long but at least I was able to pay the bills.
