Those of you that have had several IUI's ...

how do you handle it? I had my first one this month and today I found out it didnt work and I was crushed. I called the dr's office and they told me to take 100mg of clomid this cycle instead of 50 and we try again this month.

They did tell me that they wont do more than 3 after that they go onto the next step, I didnt ask what that was I am assuming its an IVF.

I personally couldn't. That's why I'm adopting. I know that's not what you wanted to hear but that's my story...and it's done wonders for my happiness, let me tell you. Good Luck! I'm sorry you have to go through this struggle. Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: Those of you that have had several IUI's ...

Well We are on # 7 I think tommorow...And It gets easier. We are doing so many because we cant afford IVF. It gets easier because I reimind myself the chance is only 10%-15% so It kinda helps me to think that it might not work versus getting my hopes up. Might not be the right approach, but weird thing is once you start having them, it just gets easier.

Im sorry your 1st time was not a success, I have heard many stories os 2nd time being a charm, so wishing you good luck for next month!

It is really hard. I am like Donna .. I prepare for the worst so I am not so disappointed. Of course I am dissapointed anyway. My life really has been lived in 2 week blocks. I spend the first two weeks being hopeful. have the IUI and spend the next two weeks preparing for let down. Then I usually have a day or two of grieving and then start the 2 week hopeful dance again. I did 5 IUI's before moving on to IVF.

Re: Those of you that have had several IUI's ...

I did 2 IUI's with one tube, and then found out that it was blocked again, so my ONLY choice to get pg is IVF.

It's very hard, but I guess, for me, it's what I have to do.

I am on #5...and for me, they don't get easier, they are getting harder. I did the first 3 on clomid...which I had a feeling didn't work. I then did #4 and #5 using injectables....I'm hoping #5 is my last one, but if not, I will only do 1 more. If after 6 it doesn't work....I'll move onto IVF.

I am devistated every month that goes by. I have had 2 IUIs and am moving on to my third in the next few days.

I want to move on to injectibles but my dr. is hesitant. After 4 IUIs we will move on to IVF.

I know it is a very hard time. To go through those BFN's I really just tried to prepare myself for the worst. Not sure if that is a good thing though. I hear everyone saying that you should think positive.

Good luck on your next cycle.

Re: Those of you that have had several IUI's ...

I had to stop. I had six IUI's with no success. I stopped in December and am only starting to think seriously about what we are going to do. If I start again, I am probably going to switch to a different clinic, but I am not sure I want to go through the emotional trials again.
Sometimes, I think our furbabies are going to be it.

I had 2 IUI's with one blocked tube. Our 2nd IUI was with 50mg of Clomid too and was successful. After reading all of these posts, I realize I'm one of the lucky ones. I hope you get lucky too.Chat Icon

Re: Those of you that have had several IUI's ...

Our 32 cycle which was our 5th cycle of IUI was successful for us. Before that, each month I was seeing the RE I would change our protocol just a smudge..that small change would be enough to give me hope that we were doing something so maybe that one little thing would be the thing to make it work.
It certainly is a hard road to be on. Findout what keeps you in good spirits and stick with it. I learned by talking with a lot of other IF people that different coping methods work for everyone.
Much BD to you, I hope you get your BFP soon.
