I've been in the house for 3 days straight.....

I am a brand new mom and feel like I am starting to go stir crazy already. DH has had to work late the past several nights and his grandmother is also in the hospital and we don't think she is going to make it so he got home even later last night after visiting her.

He is working all day again today so I am probably not going to get to go out until tommorrow when he's home.

How do you keep yourself from going crazy? DS sleeps so much I feel like all I've been doing is surfing the net and watching tv. Chat Icon I also am not comfortable bringing him out just yet.........

I slept right along with her. DD was a preemie so we were quanrantined for weeks so I slept, came on the Web and googled baby things, took lots of pictures--busy work I called it. Enjoy it--this peaceful state theyhave changes the more alert they get.

start making a first year scrapbook. Once DS is awake more than asleep, you'll find it harder to find time to do this. I wish I would've. I just started his 1st year book right before his 2nd birthdayChat Icon Chat Icon

You might want to just go right outside your house with your baby for some fresh air. I found that the first couple of weeks just a little fresh air every day did the trick! This way you wouldn't even need to put him in the infant carrier or stroller. You can just carry him with you.

Re: I've been in the house for 3 days straight.....

I totally understand My DS was born March 16,2008 3 days later my hubby started a landscaping business and is in the FDNY he was so busy.. I thought I would loose my mind. It does get easier the older they get the are up longer to actually get out of the house.

Once you decied to start getting out with the baby plan one thing a day. For now start getting things together for a scrap book, organize something in your house, start a home project ect.. That always helps me when i get stir crazy! congrats on the bambino!!

I totally understand. I had my ds at the end of november and have been home pretty much the whole time. I do do some work from home so that helps but I am bored a lot since I'm not one to sit at home. I agree with the other ladies - start his scrapbook, research things to do with him when he is a bit older, etc. When dh is home let him watch ds for a few so you can run to the grocery store or target or something - feels soooo liberating!

I already told dh that next time around I hope we are blessed with a spring or summer baby!

First off be grateful DS at least sleeps. I totally was stir crazy with my first. I would take him out to my job to visit but since you're not comfortable with that yet, bundle him up and just go for a stroll. The change of scenery is a much needed thing. Maybe you can do picture albums, catch up on some spring cleaning or maybe do an exercise video? I know I go completely bonkers in the house so I feel for ya.Chat Icon

Re: I've been in the house for 3 days straight.....

Amen...and I am only home a week!!! DH is home with me which does make it easier...but he is going crazy too!! Yesturday he drove me to the doc office to get my disability paperwork filled out and to the post office...it was the best couple of hours in a while!!! Hopefully as he gets past his second week DH and I will get out more...or I will venture out more with him too. When you feel ready I think going out to non crowded places will make you feel better!! Or even outside like others are saying...i am going to try that too!!!
