Post Your Sinus Headache Remedies!
This is DAY 3 with this awful headache. It is painful behind/in between my eyes and my nose is annoyingly congested (but when I blow, nothing comes out!). Unfortunately I am at work and can't leave early to go to the doctor. I work in a cube so I can't even turn the lights off! Yesterday I fell asleep twice with the ice pack over my face and that seemed to help. I've taken sudafed and tylenol today and haven't gotten any relief. I plan to go to the doctor after work but please recommend what YOU do when you get this! Thanks in advance!

zyrtec is the ONLY thing that works for me. i take it daily.
my OB okayed: zyrtec, claritin and alovert - all REGULAR, no D, DE, etc...
claritin helped with congestion, but not much else...
zyrtec helps the headache, but not really the congestion, but that i can deal with...the headache was HORRID...
also - try out a warm mist humidifier...that may help!!

claritin helped with congestion, but not much else...
zyrtec helps the headache, but not really the congestion, but that i can deal with...the headache was HORRID...
also - try out a warm mist humidifier...that may help!!
Thanks Jess, I remember FMing you about the Zyrtec. I will see what the Doc says today about it. I have a regular humidifier that does the whole house so can I still do the warm mist humidifier?

hmmmm - that's an interesting question... Is there any way to turn off the one that does maybe your bedroom...and then use the warm mist one?
maybe also try some vicks vapo rub...on HORRIBLE days - i use that - they make a greaseless kind now that i put right on my nose and under it....i find that helps...

you're welcome!
i know that headache all too well...and i've considered trying out alovert to see if it will kick both headache and congestion - but to be honest - i'm PETRIFIED of having that headache again...and if alovert works like claritin (they have similar ingredients)....it will come back...so i've stuck with zyrtec and dealt with it...
so far i haven't killed anyone...though it is still early...

try a neti pot or something similar. also hot showers and/or inhaling steam to loosen it. i had a sinus infection for a year about 2 years ago (it just wouldn't go away) and the only things that offered any kind of relief were the neti pot and hot showers. (eventually they found an antibiotic that worked, thank goodness.)

Tylenol Rapid Release, neti-pot, a little caffeine (I like to drink iced tea), and a microwaveable heat pck. Feel better!

ive been trying to stay away from any medicine.... sometimes i do the "Ayr - nasal rinse" and it helps my sinus pressure/pain

Thank you ladies! It seemed to get better as the day went on...I'm going to use my neti pot tonight. It's funny I always forget about it even though it almost always works well!

my doc wouldnt allow anything...
hot shower and hot compress..
when i did develop a sinus infection and def couldnt take it any longer - i got the Z pack
