Need help!! I think DS has acid reflux..
DS will be 2 Weeks old tomorrow. He was such a happy baby the first week he was home. He ate with no problem, and usually feel right to sleep after eating, or at least looked content. Since about a week ago, DS has been getting so fussy through out the day, especially after he eats. I mostly BF but give a bottle or 2 a day or formula. He usually spits up from both and never looks content after eating. He usually is very fussy and turns all red. At night I keep him upright after feeding him for at least 1/2 hr. Still, he sometimes spits up when put down. The other night he was started choking a little. He is gaining weight and has at least 8-10 wet diapers, and 4 poo diapers a day. I already told the doctor about it last appointment, but he wanted to wait till this weeks appt to see if he is gaining weight. Its so frustrating not knowing what is wrong!!! Anyone have any experience with this?

keep him upright after every feeding for at least 20-30 minutes. it may help to use a wedge under mattress when you put him to sleep. i would mention to ped again at next visit. The fact that he's gaining etc. is very good. if he seems very uncomfortable, you may want to follow up with a Pediatric gastro specialist

Thanks so much!! I always keep him upright after feedings and we have a wedge under his mattress. Both of these things do help alot. I will talk to the ped on Friday and see what he says.

Re: Need help!! I think DS has acid reflux..
My DD is 4 weeks tomorrow and we had to put her on Zantac at week 2 because of the same types of things. DD was great the first week and then began getting fussy after every feeding then even during BFing. She looked like she was in such pain. She never really spit up much but I could hear the bubbles in her stomach and hear the food come up in her throat, then she would swallow it back down.
I would def follow up with the ped. if you are concerned. DD has been night and day since the meds.

Re: Need help!! I think DS has acid reflux..
I could have written this post myself. At DS's one month well visit yesterday I told his dr. about it and she prescribed Zantac so we'll see how that works. But yes, it's so heartbreaking so see them in so much pain/discomfort after feeding. DS writhes in pain from the gas and also gurgles whatever comes back up..he's also projectile spit-up vomited a few times. I'm the Zantac works so maybe ask for that?

We have the same Avatar title!!! I will let the Ped know again and see what he wants to do. Maybe Zantac will help. I hope your DS feels better!!
