Dying Hair?
I went to get my hair cut today during lunch and told the woman that I was pregnant and she points to her belly and said she was too So while she's cutting my hair we're chatting and I mention how when I first started IVF I kept dying my hair in anticipation of not being able to do it for nine months and that by this last IVF I decided to NOT dye my hair (just to change things up ) and poof I'm preggo with bad hair now. So she tells me that it is fine to dye your hair the first three months. Is this true?

I don't think that's accurate. My Ob said not until I was 24 weeks. Instead I did an herbal dye. You might want to look into that.

You will get varying opinions on this depending on the doc. I did highlights in my first 12 weeks and my OB had no issues. I dye and highlight the whole 9 months.

My OB said not for the first trimester. Highlights were OK if they were foil and not directly on the scalp, but when you dye it, it gets absorbed a bit. I think I had mine done at exactly 12 weeks.

My doc said no dye for the first trimester. Then highlights are ok. I did both my roots and highlights at 12 weeks.

you have to ask YOUR specific doc this question - as every doc has a different theory - as Jen mentioned above.
i was told it's fine - i use a PEROXIDE FREE dye... i haven't done it yet - but might do it this weekend.

There are a lot of varying opinions on this. Some dyes are considered safe depending on if they have peroxide in them or not.
Personally, I stuck to highlighting my hair (and my hairdresser didnt get too close to the scalp with the foils) and I did it from as early as 6 weeks.

All dr.'s are different... My dr. with my fist son said not to dye my hair at all... Now that Im in NC they said that it is ok to dye your hair after the 1st trimester... the 2nd is the best to do it..

They used an amonia free dye.

ITA - wait to ask ur dr. My sister always did the semi permanant dye after her 2nd tri.

Each Dr. has different theories, but I think the general rule of thumb is that you can't dye during the first trimester, highlights are okay. After the first tri, you can do whatever you want. I waited to dye my hair until the first tri ended.

Interesting. I had my first OB appointment and asked about getting my hair relaxed. She said it's fine as long as the place is well ventilated. Honestly not sure I believe her or trust my own anxiety so I may wait until after the 1st trimester anyway.

My doctor told me it was fine to dye my hair but I waited after my first trimester and then only did a semi-permanent type vegetable dye.
