I am so sorry to hear . May she travel the road to recovery quickly.

I've lived this with one of my closest friends. She was sick for 10 plus years with Scleroderma. Ultimately, what she needed was to know I was there. She despised being treated with pity but always appreciated humor. We use to joke about all her doctors, her misadventures into the world of alternative medicine and the absoulte absurdity of her situation.
I wish your friend the very best. Just be there for her and take your cues from her.

many prayers go out to her.
just be yourself and be honest, tell her youre not sure what to do or say, but youre there for her 100%. she may feel just as awkward because this is so new to her, so be open with her.
im sure she will appreciate you being there for her .

I'm so sorry. It's OK to cry about it but be strong for her, she might need you for laughs or stories of what you guys WILL be doing when you are old and grey right now more then anything
