i dont see an endo anymore. I went to a Rhemuatologist for a whole but now I see an Immunologist/Allergist since most of my issues are Autoimmune related

DH was diagnosed with graves disease in HS. The docs killed his thyroid with radioactive iodine. He's been on synthroid since. Just 2 years ago he had it removed and he's fine. Like oters said don't worry when you don't hsve to.

Hey sweetie...i know everything all at once can be scary. I had major issues in late summer/early fall of 2007. I've had hypothyroidism (hoshimotos as well) since im 18 and it is so common. All i do is pop a tiny pill once a day and im fine. When i was really sick almost 2 years ago i had an exceedingly positive A&A...it was so scary because my mom has lupus. Well after my bout of illness was over, it was determined my A&A was a false negative which happens so often to many.
As for rheumatologists i go to Dr Khan/Dr. Mark Tan's office. I see Dr. Khan about once every 6 months. My mom goes to Dr. Tan. They are both so wonderful. If you need any more info, please fm me. Best of luck to you

I used to go to Dr. Carlsen 631-444-0580 when I lived further east. he's over at INTERNAL MEDICINE/ STONY BROOK INTERNISTS. (he's an endo)
very nice man. not sure if he takes oxford. havent gone to him in a few years though. i moved further west and am still looking for one out here. right now i have my general physician watching my TH levels through regular blood tests.

Try not to worry too much until you hear what the specialist says. Sometimes Drs scare you by referring you to someone else but its just b/c they arent familiar w/ that area of medicine.
I'm sure everything work work out

Hi, girls!
So, I went to my Primary care yesterday and brought her my blood work results. She said that she doesn't feel I need to see an Endo at all, b/c its a minor thing so far. She said she wants me to go for another blood test about 4 weeks from the 1st one I had (so around 4/21). I have to make an appt with her after that and we'll see how the TSH levels are. Apparently, I didn't realize that when I had my regular bloodwork done back in Oct., they tested for the TSH too, and at that time it was normal! She said if its still high she would put me on a small dose of Synthroid. I asked her what a high TSH level even means for me, like physically. She said it could cause so many different things, like fatigue, dry skin, scalp problems, weight gain, AND... possibly even vertigo!!! If I end up taking this Synthroid and my vertigo goes away I will be SO ecstatic!!!
She did want me to see a Rheumatologist though, for the ANA level. I have that appt on Monday so I will keep you girls posted!
