Spinoff to registry post
Do you feel differently about buying someone the breast pump on their registry now that you are pregnant?
Before now, I never bought a breastpump or would suggest it as a group gift. It was like the gift, KWIM?
Now that I know what a needed item they are for people who register for them, I would totally suggest it as the group gift.
You?

Re: Spinoff to registry post
I vividly remember the day about 5 years ago that I walked into BRU for a co-worker's gift. I went late and not much was left on the registry. However, there was a breastpump. I declared loudly to my MIL and husband "There is no way in HELL I am buying a breastpump!!". Ah, to be 24 and scared of pregnancy
Now that I am pregnant and can understand a bit more why someone wants one/needs one, I definitely would consider it. However, I do think it sort of depends on who it is going to. I know it's silly, but it's still a somewhat personal item...so I don't know if I'd get it for someone I was more casually acquainted with (not that it should matter).

Re: Spinoff to registry post
I never cared before what it was, if it was on their registry, I would consider buying it or helping in buying it....so it didn't change for me, I still feel the same way
but I'm kinda clueless when it comes to these things

Re: Spinoff to registry post
i can see why people dont want to buy it... its not something you show off to your friends and say " so and so bought me my pump...
i seem to be getting gifts of the things people will see most outside of the house, or in pictures of the baby using.

Re: Spinoff to registry post
i had registered for one with DS and no one got it for me, and i am glad, bc i rented one from the hospital and i was not able to pump either,.. so that would have been a $400 gift gone to waste.

Re: Spinoff to registry post
i still won't buy it off a registry. i only like to buy essential items, and a breast pump, to me, is not essential. you usually don't know you need it right away, and for many women it goes to waste. i'm glad i borrowed one for a friend or that would have been $$$ down the drain.
i'd rather get them a gift cert. and let them get more important things.

Re: Spinoff to registry post
Honestly I don't think i would ever get someone the breast pump. I would rather give them GC's towards the purchase of it. My main reason for that is because most showers are done before the baby is here. And with the strict return policies(45 days for BRU) if a newer one comes out or if for some reason they can't use it you can't return it.
