Anyone want to try to help point me in the right direction??
Long story short, I want to go back to school to get my degree.
I have my associates from a community college, my major was elementary ed. I am 33 with a 2 year old daughter. Being a teacher has always been my dream and with my daughter here now, I need a flexible schedule so I can be with her on vacations and such.
But, I dont know if its too late and too much schoolwork now with a toddler that I stay home with. Do you think that its out of reach by this point? Should I focus on another area to major in?
When I think of what I want to do, teaching is the only thing that comes to mind. I LOVE to write but I dont think choosing a path like that would get me too many job offers at this point in time.
Does anyone have any suggestions for me? Any majors that someone can think of for me that would benefit my daughter and myself? Do you think I have a shot at becoming a teacher so late in life? All honest opinions are welcome, please!!! TIA.

Teachers come in all ages - doesn't matter when you start - you get paid the same your first year at 22 and at 35...so don't worry about the age thing - plus some people might think your experience as a plus. BUT it is a hard market out there for elem teachers.
as for going back to school. I had a 3 month old when I went back to finish my second masters. I had a supportive family and DH who helped out babysitting - which you will need for student teaching. I was pregnant with my second when I went back to start the next degree.

Hey just want to tell you my mom's story. She was a SAHM until 33yrs old then went back to school p/t. First she got her associates in early childhood then transferred to a 4yr college and rec'd a bachleor's in education. It took her 6yrs because she always worked around mine and my brother's schedule and landed her first teaching job at 40yrs old! She then went back for her Master's again very p/t. Now at 58 she's preparing for retirement in the next few years. You can totally do this Noreen!

It's not to late at all. You can do it. start off slow by taking 1 or 2 classes a semester, you can even take classes on line. It should not matter how long it takes you. let's say it takes 3 years those 3 years are going to pass anyway so why not be 3 years older and be a teacher KWIM- I am not that good at expressing myself in writing Good luck to you..........
