Is Kite Runner better than A Thousand Splendid Suns?
Okay, I know it's all about personal preference (and some people have hated books that I've loved), but... Is the Kite Runner better than A Thousand Splendid Suns? I will finish A Thousand Splendid Suns on the train home tonight, and I have to be honest -- I'm not loving this book at all.
It did keep my attention enough to finish it (that says a lot - I'm the first one to put down a book and start another when I get bored)... but I really didn't think it was great at all. I found it predictable and deperessing and didn't think the characters were written that well at all. (Note - I can take a sad story if it's a GOOD story. I just don't think this was that great of a story.)
I'm going to take a break to try to read something totally different now (not sure what yet)... but I am thinking after the next book I may read the Kite Runner. My mom keeps recommending it and she claims she didn't love A Thousand Splendid Suns either... Is she right? 
PS -- I don't mean at all to offend anyone who loved A Thousand Splendid Suns at all. There are plenty of books I've LOVED that I'm sure other people didn't like. It's not personal. I just didn't care for it myself.

I loved both, but the Kite Runner is told from the male perspective, and I did feel A Thousand Splendid Suns dragged in parts, where I didn't feel that in the Kite Runner. It's a totally different story, so you may like it.

I enjoyed the Kite Runner more. A thousand splendid suns was good and I wanted to love it but I didnt love it.

I actually loved them both equally, so I'm probably no help. But I did think A Thousand Splendid Suns was a lot more depressing than Kite Runner

I loooooved The Kite Runner.. I am reading A Thusand Splendid Suns now and I am about 100 pages in and I am not loving it at all

I did not really like A Thousand Splendid Suns myself...but I truly enjoyed The Kite Runner. The Kite Runner is a far superior book IMO.

I just posted on the "what are you reading now" thread that I am reading a thousand splendid suns. I like it but it's like COME ON - when are these people going to have some LUCK in their lives??? I was hesitant to read it at all but I do want to read the kite runner now, after hearing from so many of you that it's different.
