No appreciation

There was a meeting at my school with all the teachers on the grade to discuss the test scores.

The AP raved ... and I mean really RAVED about 2 teachers where all of the scores went up or all but 1 went up.
Well, in my class, all but 1 went up and they didn't say sh!t about me!!! I was so annoyed because as a new teacher, I was so proud of the accomplishment of getting half my class from 2-3 and I was expecting them to mention my name too.
I approached my principal after and told her how proud I was of my kids (thought maybe she didn't realize it) and she just looked at the paper and nodded. I also said that one person was ONE POINT AWAY from a 3 so that to me seemed like just as good as a 3 since it was so close.

Well.............. she told me that the scores were not HIGH ENOUGH 3s and it was likely that my students would not maintain that level for next year anyway. I was like. ... . My students are in SPECIAL ED! Before the exams, everyone told me I can't expect them to go up and just keeping them from going down was good. ALL OF MY KIDS WENT UP A LOT EXCEPT 1 (there are 12) and they didn't care AT ALL saying that they weren't solid enough 3s.

UGHHHH I hate my administration!

I am so sorry for the way your administration has treated you. You should be proud of your hard work and the children's accomplishments. I know its hard, but try to focus on that!

As a fellow special education teacher I have learned that most principals just dont care about special ed at all . . Its sad but true. No matter what they do it means nothing tp administrators

UGG. How terrible I'm proud of you and your kids! And just know that no matter who your administration is, you did the best for your kids and that's what really matters!

Honestly my administration is making me so fed up. I don't want to sound like a child and make it out like I need to be recognized for everything I do ... but this was BIG .. and I am never recognized for ANYTHING in my school even though I work my a$$ off. It's just making me really discouraged. I thrive on positive encouragement and that's even what my classroom environment is based around. I have considered looking elsewhere but with the prospect that we will move out of state in the next year, and also that I will be getting pregnant soon, I hope , it makes looking for a new school make less and less sense right now.

I think all principals are the same!

I think you did a fantastic job! Working with ANY group of children is an extremely challenging task, but to get your S.E. kids from 2-3's is amazing!
