Watering breaking question

Did you put anything on your bed just in case your water breaks at night? I'm nervous that this is going to happen to me. Did you put a waterproof pad underneath your sheets or what?

Re: Watering breaking question

I was wondering that too. What point (week) do you start to do that?

Re: Watering breaking question

I was thinking that too, but I actually heard the percentage of women who's water breaks is small. Not that I really know anything. I'm due tomorrow and never put anything on the bed, but we did buy new bedding and waiting to put it on after... just in case.
I spoke with two friends who's water broke when they were sleeping and they said that it was such a trickle and they didn't "gush" till they stood up so my thing is if I feel anything run right to the bathroom and I should be safe

I am not doing anything special since the percentage is low that your water will break before you are in the hospital. I expect it to be a slow leak if it does break anyway.

ME! I did - and did it earlier this time b.c my water broke on its own with DD so I don't want to chance it (granted it broke at the hospital but it broke completely on its own. I also when it gets closer put a garbage bag and towel down on the seat in my car just in case - nothing like your water breaking in your car - a mattress is easier to replace than a car seat.

I put a shower curtain liner underneath my sheets. But honestly, it got too hot to sleep on my bed! The doc ended up breaking my water anyway, but better safe than sorry!

Re: Watering breaking question

We just purchased a new mattress - I will be devistated if anything happens to it! I will be investing in a mattress pad - and putting it on ASAP.

Until then - maybe a towel and plastic - as long as it doesn't crinkle too much Chat Icon

I didn't notice them & I figured better safe than sorry but my water didn't break until I was at the hospital.
