Car Dealer Service Question
So... The cd player in my honda crv jammed. Dealer said it would be covered under my extended warranty which I purchased when I bought my car new from the dealer.
Now the dealer is telling me the extended warranty won't be honored because I changed my name when I got married and never notified the warranty company. They want me to pay $500 for the service! I never would have agreed to that... Am I liable considering they told me it would be covered? I am so annoyed. I have been sitting here with DS for 3 hours now!!!

Re: Car Dealer Service Question
do you have a copy of the warrenty?
my boy friend just dropped his car off at the dealer and they told him $1600 for a timing belt
he went home- grabbed the warrenty and went back
it's covered

That's ridiculous - you are the same person. I would ask for a supervisor/manager/etc until someone agrees to cover the repair.

Tell them you were born at night but not last night. That is outrageous. What idiot would buy line of reasoning?

Re: Car Dealer Service Question
they can't legally do this, you are still the same person with the same SS # that purchased the car. Speak to someone who has half a brain, and you will be fine.
On a side note, I'm shocked they are even covering the cd player, unless its a new car. I thought that was one of the things they didn't cover.

I would definitely talk to the owner of the dealership. They have to take your warranty married name or maiden you are the same person. That is just plain wrong.

that person who fed you that line of BS must be living in a parallel universe where he makes up the rules.

Re: Car Dealer Service Question
In addition to their ridiculous excuse, you can't legally be held liable to pay any money that they didn't have you preapprove before performing the work.
