Do EI therapy services start right away?
We are having our meeting today to go over DS's evaluation and what services he will be receiving. Do they start services right away or does it depend on the therapy provider you chose? DH's cousins son was diagnosed with Apraxia of speech and they didnt want to start services until September so they are actually paying for the summer themselves
ETA: For speech, what do they usually offer? One session or two sessions per week?

Ry's started right after the initial EI meeting.. maybe the following week. That is crazy to wait. If he is approved.. it should start right away.

That's what I thought. I don't know...maybe it is the agency she used. But she is paying out of pocket for a couple of months. This is all new to her as well so maybe I will mention to her she doesnt have to go with who did the evaluation but I think she may have already signed the contract.
I feel terrible for her b/c she had him evaluated twice already and was turned down both times. Finally they accepted him this time after diagnosing him with Apraxia of speech. He needed to start services like yesterday!

Not in Nassau. There is a minimum of 2 weeks between the meeting and the start of the sessions.

i'd say within two weeks for us (we're in Jersey). After the ISFP meeting they needed to submit the authorizations to the agency, then they need to match you with a therapist, and then you have to work the schedule out with the therapist.

We started about a week and a half later....the services amount should depend of severity of delay.

they have to start services 2 weeks after your IFSP meeting.
how old is your DHs cousins son?
we started out with speech 2x a week for 45 min
