how much do you pay for homeowner's insurance?
someone just told me they got quotes for $2000 and $1100 a month... am i insane for thinking that is crazy????

we pay about $1200-$1300 a year for homeowners.
we have our car and homeowners both through USAA, and the bill for both is about $260 a month.

Definitely has to be per year.

Are you in a flood zone? I know that increases the rates exponentially.
I just got off the phone with my agent and got a ballpark figure of $1300-1500/year; I'll get the actual quote tomorrow.

No. I live in North Merrick right by the Southern State Pkwy. I would hope they dont consider that a flood zone.

Are you kidding me?!?!? that's insane!! if you take southern state out east it travels north east at times. are you telling me that republic airport (southern state at one point travels right below it) could potentially be in a flood plain (or hazzard plain)????????????????????????????
i know people think we will be getting a bad hurricane but c'mon, i think alot of it is just fluff so companies can make more money!!

That may be dependent upon town - we'll be in Wantagh, south of the Southern State but north of Sunrise and we're not considered a flood zone.
Or perhaps this is insurance co by insurance co?
