Please help me calm down
MIL is watching DS this weekend and she will also be watching our 4 year old nephew...by herself.
They have a pool in their yard....I just get this vision in my head that the phone will ring and she'll turn to answer it and....you know.
I pleaded with DH to remind her to not let them out of her sight for one second. I know I'm being paranoid, but that's my job. Please tell me it will be fine......

Re: Please help me calm down
I know where you are coming from - believe me! Yesterday I dropped Jack off at my cousins and ran to get a haircut - when I left they were playing in the front of the house. I almost had a panic attack. I literally could picture my phone ringing with terrible news. I was about to turn around and take him with me. A friend of mine reminded me that my cousin raised three boys and she would take good care of Jack. I rushed like hell to get back there, and he was fine. I didn't even want to text my cousin because I didn't want her eyes off of him for one second!
Just think - your MIL raised two kids, and her grandson is always there I believe. Try and trust them. Also - I would make it known before you leave "You know, I'm really worried about Gavin and the pool - please just make sure to watch him when you guys are back here" -- You are his mom and can say whatever you want!

Don't know much about them, but for peace of mind, could you pick up one of those alarm bracelets (not sure what they are called) ??

Re: Please help me calm down
My mom takes care of DS and she has a pool. Sometimes, it's best in scenarios like this to be explicit in what you mean by "don't take your eyes off of them for even a second"
I told mom that, and added that this means that if she has to go to the bathroom, he has to enter the house with her and she has to close and lock the door.
come up with specific scenarios you can envision, and tell them to your MIL. That will make your MIL more prepared, and you more comfortable

Oh thank God I am not alone,LOL, my MIL raised 3 kids and she watches DD sometimes if I have something to do. I trust her completely and she is wonderful with DD , but I still try not to call too much to check on the baby when I'm out, thinking that the phone call will distract her I am so bad , I know, but I can't help it To the OP please do not worry, your DC will be just fine

Re: Please help me calm down
It will be okay.
If it makes you feel better, tell her that you son will probably be excited about the pool and will want to be around it. It will remind her to be extra vigilant.

Re: Please help me calm down
Perhaps remind her to lock the door if it leads to the yard/pool. DS has just figured out how to open my sliding glass doors and front door so I have to always double lock it. It will be fine
