any opinions on hotels to stay at or avoid in Lake George? or ideas on what to do there? (family vacation)
so i think we decided on lake george for a 5 day vacation. we will be bringing our 13 month old.
we need a motel/hotel that is moderately priced (around $100 ish), has a pool, hopefully lake access and isn't run down like some i've been finding.
any ideas? also, any ideas on what to do there?

good luck finding anything for 100 bucks there, but the holiday inn turf is nice and if you are a AAA, government employee you might be able to get a decent price. It's very nice, but you have to get in your car and drive to the public beach which is a very short ride down the street. There are beautifuk lake views from the hotel because its raised up on the hill.

I agree - Holiday Inn is good.
What are some of the places you have been looking at? I've been going to Lake George every year since I was born, so I know what a lot of the places are like. We have a timeshare there now, so I haven't stayed in the other places in years, but I might be able to give you somewhat of an idea of ones to stay away from :)

one is lake crest inn and the other is flamingo resort. there was one more but the name is lost on me right now.
i am a AAA member and government employee if that helps!
any other suggestions of places to try that are on the lake where we won't have to drive to the beach?

I've never stayed at either of these, but I did notice that the flamingo is in diamond point (which is where our timeshare is too) - just an fyi, diamond point is a few minutes (literally about 5 - 10 max) from the actual "village" of Lake George. In my personal opinion, the places in Diamond Point look to be nicer than the ones right in the village. You may pay a little bit more, but I think it's worth it. Some of the places in the village remind me of the Bates Motel...

I always stay at Six Flags but it's not $100 a night (http://www.sixflagsgreatescapelodge.com/index.asp)
The next option I'd recommend like the others is the Holiday Inn (http://www.lakegeorgeturf.com/).
That said, a more affordable option that my cousin stays at every year is Scotty's Motel. They are always really happy with it. (http://www.scottysmotel.com/)
Good luck!
