Picked up some meds from the pharmacy last night

My doc and I spoke at length about a medicine that we both agreed I should take and have taken before with great success.

He called it in. I went to the pharm to get it and got home and realized it was not the medicine we spoke about. It's similar but definitely different and I haven't been on it before.

I called the doc's office and spoke to one of the nice ladies who I've spoken to before.

She pulls my chart and says that is what he prescribed. I asked her to make sure she checks with the doc since we had a whole convo around it. She sounded annoyed and tells me he's in with patients and will get back to me.

I think she was annoyed that I questioned it. I thought I had every right to question it.

Your thoughts?

You should most definitely question it. If you have any question that this medication is not what you are supposed to be taking you did the right thing.

You have to manage your own health. Doctors will help guide us and make suggestions, but they are not perfect or miracle workers...we have to be responsible for what we put into our bodies. I never take anything without fully understanding what it is for, how it will affect me and what drugs it may not be combined with.

I deal with this a lot lately and would have done exactly what you did.

I got a call back. The lady left a message on my voice mail but I'm still not convinced.

She said the doctor did prescribe x rather than Y.


I need to know why I guess. Maybe I'll send him an email.

Def question it and def get an answer. Too bad for her and her annoyance....dont take it untill you find out more.

Are you positive it's a different medication and not just a different generic version of the same medication that you took last time? Sometimes generics wind up giving "names" much like brand names to their drugs, but they are the same drug.

I would call back and ask the doctor to call you.

so it turns out that I was on this med before. I had a brain fart. So I'm going to start this med tonight.

all is well that ends well.
