thyroid

I was diagnosed w/ a hyperactive thryoid earlier this year. I sought treatment and was told it is now hypothyroid. I was given meds to treat the hypo. Has anyone been diagnosed w/ either thryoid issue and if so what symptoms did you experience either from the thyroid or the medication.?

I'm experiencing hair loss and it is driving me crazy not to sound vain but I love my hair. Any support would be helpful.

the hair loss is definately a symptom of the underactive thyroid, not the medication.

I am underactive, I have Hashimoto's which is Autoimmune hypothyroidism. I have been on synthroid since I was 16.

My symptoms are

Slower metabolism (I have always been about 20lbs. overweight)
dry skin
hair loss
lethergy
i could sleep for days!!!
some boughts of minor depression/anxiety over the years which I have just recently learned can definately be associated with hypothyroidism
some swelling in limbs at times
the list goes on...

if you have any questions, dont hesitate to ask. Also, FYI, it can take weeks to a few months for your meds to really kick in and make you feel better. Make sure you take them regularly!!
