Rash? Updated with bigger, better images of the rash/hive (with doctor update)
Ugh .. its been a long week
The rash is red with bumps
What's causing it? I have NO idea? It happened suddenly and severely at daycare. They called us immediately.
bad photo sorry
could it be whole milk? could it be the gas med (mycoline??)
I know Jim put on a shirt today without it being washed first.
Rash/Hive fades by the time i pick her up Still there but hard to photograph as it gets lighter.
Any ideas?

Re: Rash?
Your daughter had a high fever just like my son I remember u saying this week. He has roseola. Could this be it? The rash comes out once the fever breaks and is no longer contagious.

Re: Rash?
What are the first signs and symptoms of roseola?
The signs and symptoms of HHV-6 (or HHV-7) infection vary depending upon the age of the patient. Infants and toddlers routinely will develop sudden symptoms with a sudden high fever that lasts for three to five days, irritability, bulging "soft spot" on the head (fontanel), swollen glands in the front or back of the neck, runny nose, puffy eyelids (due to swelling with fluid), and mild diarrhea. Within 12-24 hours of the fever breaking, a rash rapidly appears. Older children who develop HHV-6 (or HHV-7) infection are more likely to have an illness characterized by several days of high fever and possibly a runny nose and/or diarrhea. Older children less commonly develop a rash as the fever abates.

Roseola or an MMR reaction (if she had the vaccine recently).

Re: Rash? Updated with bigger, better images of the rash/hive
I would monitor fever if any and call the ped. DD had Kawasaki disease (which is very rare) and her rash looked like this so I'm a little paranoid with rashes...however she was also extremely sick...high fever and just really really out of it...lethargic etc. Your DD looks happy from the pics so it's probably roseola.

Re: Rash? Updated with bigger, better images of the rash/hive
I dont know if it is a disease or a reaction to something.
But I would get her seen asap.
And also, never put clothing on her that hasnt been washed. They put all kinds of chemicals on the clothing that should be washed off prior to wearing. It could easily be a reaction to the unwashed shirt, esp on a child.
Is there rash anywhere other than upper torso? That may help determine what it is.
Your DD is adorable, btw.
Please keep us posted.

Re: Rash? Updated with bigger, better images of the rash/hive
Did she have a high fever that broke before the rash showed up?
Looks exactly like DS did when he had roseola!

Did you give her benadryl? DS had something like this awhile back that came out of nowhere and the benadryl cleared it up in like 15 minutes.

Re: Rash? Updated with bigger, better images of the rash/hive
ds had that rash a month ago and it was roseola... ped told me it was going around right now...
on a side note i actually never prewash ds clothes, never have and we have never had an issue.... i am sure alot of people will disagree with me on that as usual, but it is just my own personal preference

Didnt come out wrong at all.
I pulled off freaking miracles this morning.
I called the pedi first thing. While I waited for their call back I think I just worked harder than I ever have in my life. ticked off a coworker who wanted to take his time to explain something.. "look, my kid isnt well and i may have to leave so if its not urgent its not my problem"
LOL
thankfully im in an office with parents of kids. Not teens but kids, so they get it. Im actually using that co-worker's pediatrician. he was so cool about it said "damn sorry, i hope she's ok, take her to ABCD (the actual name btw) and lemme know how it goes.. this is really not that important"
Man i coulda hugged him!
They called back and she has a 3:30 appt (CST) so hubby is leaving work at 2:45 to take her in. They say that it is almost 100% sure its roseola and its nothing to be alarmed about but they do want her seen due to the swelling to rule out anything more dangerous.
so now calmer I'm kicking butt for that coworker to make up for this morning.

Re: Rash? Updated with bigger, better images of the rash/hive
I'd say roseola too...although if she was on amoxicillian it also looks like the rash that is associated with that too.
Glad you're taking her in. Likely she'll be allowed back at daycare if it's roseola because she's no longer contagious.

Re: Rash? Updated with bigger, better images of the rash/hive
That is exactly what DD's rash looked like when she had Roseola. Good thing is if it is Roseola, the worst is over. After the rash breaks out they are no longer contagious. The rash also does not seem to bother them.
