FSH levels UPDATE new question
hi everyone - i got my CD3 blood work results back and the only abnormal thing was my FSH level
my doc said a woman my age (29) should be around 5 or a little above. i was a 10. i am retaking the test next cycle but i was wondering if anyone knew anything about FSH levels and if anyone had high FSH levels?
thank you!
UPDATE:
one more questions - has anyone had "high" FSH levels and had a successful IVF? is 10 considered really high?
thank you!

Re: FSH levels
A high FSH level can indicate poor egg quality/diminished reserve.
I am 29 my FSH levels have been between 8 and 11.4.
My RE told me that while my FSH is on the higher side of normal, it still is considered normal. However, I do have egg quality issues.
Your FSH is slightly elevated, but that may not necessarily be a huge issue.

Re: FSH levels
My understanding is that an FSH level is an indicator of ovarian reserve and egg quality.
Having said that, my RE told me that it can vary from cycle to cycle so they are doing the right thing for you in repeating it next month on CD3.
I've read that lots of women on this board have had a level of 10 or above and gone on to have healthy babies!

Re: FSH levels
My FSH was 11 when tested and I have diminished ovarian reserve, but I am also 41, so that is not unusual given my age.

Re: FSH levels UPDATE new question
I had a nine, which was on the higher end. However, my estroidal levels were good. I think that balanced the equation out. Just had ER so I guess I will find out about my egg quality and all in the next few days.

Re: FSH levels UPDATE new question
10 is really not that bad. I became PG on my 1st IVF with healthy twin boys and my FSH was 14.9. the fsh really is an indicator of how well you will stimulate with meds. I got 8, 5 fertilized, implanted 2 on day 3 and the others arrested before being able to be frozen on day 5.

i guess it was such a shock to hear that my level was high that i was automatically thinking the worst. i guess i never thought (and i dont know why) that this process was going to be so difficult and heart wrenching. after my high FSH and my insurance company giving me problems i was so sad! and this is only the beginning!
i am so thankful to have you girls to bounce some things off of - you really truly made me feel so much better
thank you

Re: FSH levels UPDATE new question
There are several woman on this board who had high FSH and had success.
And there's a reason for infertility that you can tell your insurance company!
Your FSH isn't awful, but yes, it should be lower at your age...I know there are herbs you can take to assist you with high FSH. I think DRMom knows some!!
ETA: Ooops! Didn't see Melissa's post above!
