4 month "routine"

I can't seem to find info on a typical daily routine. i KNOW, every baby is different. i'm just trying to get ideas from people! here's mine... please please give me urs & any advice?? the day time has been pretty regular & great for about 2 months, but i can't seem to get the evening straight help!!!
7am: up, 5 oz bottle (EPing)
8: 1 oz EPmilk w/ 4ts cereal
8:30- off to work with mommy for day!
10-12ish: nap
12:30pm- 5 oz bottle
2:30-4:00ish- nap (usually falls asleep on ride home from work & stays alil when we get home)
4:30- 5 oz bottle
***THIS IS WHERE IS GETS HARD!!
usually cranky by 6ish...but wont nap?
try to get bedtime routine going by 7 (cereal w/ EP milk, then bath, 5oz bottle, book, bed)
but it doesn't always work cuz she's so cranky!!
whenever she falls asleep, she'll be up by 2ish (to eat 5oz) then sleeps again til about 530 (can soothe & falls back asleep til 7ish)
*i just can't figure out how to work out the evening schedule- any ideas, what do you do?

Re: 4 month "routine"

At 3-4 months, DD was still BF on demand , no cereal, so i'll just give you her nap schedule since she usually ate inbetween each nap.

Wake up 6-7am.
Nap: 9am-11:00-11:30.
Nap: 1:00-2:30ish
Short Nap around 4pm 30 minutes at the most
Bedtime was at 7 pm. Usually closer to 6:15-6:30pm if she skipped the short nap
Dream fed around 10 and slept through to the next morning...

She is probably way overtired by 7 pm...try putting her to bed a little earlier each night. She may just need an earlier bedtime.

ETA: Sometimes she'd fall asleep immediately and sometimes she didn't fall asleep until closer to 8, depending on the day

Re: 4 month "routine"

have you considered moving the cereal in the evening up in time.. with ds i have always tried to give him his cereal at 530ish, even when he was that young...

I literally would just go pick her up and she would stir and latch immediately without fully waking up. She'd eat and then I'd lay her back down and she'd go back to sleep immediately.

I think it helped her to sleep through the night. Starting 6 weeks old, she'd eat at 10pm and sleep to 5 or 6, so as her bedtime got earlier, I kept that feeding. It worked great until the 4 month sleep regression started around 4 months 1 week.

Re: 4 month "routine"

cuz my DD was sleeping thru the nite (830ish-6ish) from about 5wks old. and stopped around 3 mths, 1 week.
sooo frustrating! and since then, i can't seem to find a time for feeding, sleeping that works!! ahhhh

Re: 4 month "routine"

I would guess that maybe she needs to go down for the night at about 6 or so. Around 6, I would go through your bedtime routine and try to get a few more oz in her before you put her down.

Just wanted to add- I didn't read the other responses. Sorry if I repeated.

I'd just try it for a few nights and see if it helps. I was putting my DD to bed closer to 8-8:30 originally and she was already cranky and it was hard to get her to fall asleep. Now that I put her down before the crankiness, she goes right to sleep (sometime she complains for a minute or two)

I guess it is normal. DD was sleeping through the night and then she starting waking 4 or 5 times a night. Since I wasn't used to that, I didn't know what to do to comfort her. Normally, I tried pacifier and rocking for a few minutes and if she didn't quiet, I'd feed her. She is almost 5 months now and this week she has starting waking only once. Usually I just need to hold her and then I can put her back down without feeding. It has been a long 3 weeks.

Re: 4 month "routine"

dd is 3 1/2 months and this is our routine. it def varies depending on her naps for the day.

wake up 8am- 7ozbottle with 5tsp cereal in it
830-930am- playtime
930-12 nap
12- 5oz bottle with bowl of cereal with fruit mixed in (i started fruits early)
1230-230pm playtime go out whatever the day has
230-3pm 5oz bottle
3-5ish nap (if its a short nap or no nap bedtime starts earlier)
530-730 playtime again
730-bath (we do bath before feeding because she tends to fall alseep while eating)
8pm- 7 or 8oz bottle with 5tsp cereal in it.
sleeping by 830-9pm

and will sleep till about 8am.

some days she takes a bottle at 6pm and then we start bath at 830 and she has the bedtime bottle at 9 sleeping by 930.

Re: 4 month "routine"

ds used to, at that age, get a bottle at 4 and then eat at 530... followed by bat at 6 and bed at 645... still does to this day, minus the bottle which is replaced by a sippy
