I am scared I am going to FREAK OUT!
How does a cervix dialate and then CLOSE? REALLY?
I am due Nov. 5th and last Tuesday I had 7 hours of contractions at 15 minutes apart and nothing.
= (
I realize I have 10 days. I have been so patient. I am so uncomfortable; I can't sit, walk or sleep comfortably.
Please, anyone?? I need encouragement that it isn't just me.

Re: I am scared I am going to FREAK OUT!
I'll tell you, while I didn't go into labor with my first, the anticipation of it all freaked me out so badly. I ended up needing a c-section, and I was actually CALM about that! Imagine that being awake while they cut me open was more appealing than pushing a baby out the natural way? What's wrong with me? But, looking back, I wish I would have just enjoyed those last few days more, rather than worrying about how the baby was going to come out. Women give birth in rice fields. Women give birth in cars, in subways, on planes, on boats, in the mountains camping.... It's the most natural thing in the world, and your body will just know what to do. That, I'm sure of. Did that help at all???

Re: I am scared I am going to FREAK OUT!
Surprisingly when it's real and the doctor says it real a calm settles over you. I remember when I got to the hospital although I was in extreme pain I was calm and new that labor wouldn't last forever. If you choose to get an epidural trust me the level of comfort that comes with that is unbelievable. You feel nothing but comfortable.

My friends who have had their children tell to relax and enjoy this time. I get that. It is my family memebers and friends who do not have kids who make me crazy. The daily calls where they want an 'update' are making me so nervous I don't want to read a text or answer the phone.

I completely understand what you are saying, but the anticipation until then is causing my blood pressure to sky rocket.

Re: I am scared I am going to FREAK OUT!
Did you have 2 differnet doctors check you? I went for an internal at 38 weeks 5 days and was 2-3 cm then a different doctor told me at 39 weeks 1 day that I was barely a finger tip dialated. I was so upset and felt so bad physically. I wound up being induced 6 days past my due date. So much of the pain and discomfort went away as soon as DS was born. Hang in there, your almost there.
