Thanksgiving Vent - yes this is sports related :)
What crappy football games they have slated for Thanksgiving this year
No offense to fans of any of these teams, particularly Detroit or Oakland.
12:30: Green Bay visits Detroit - unless this is another Tampa Bay-like game - this one will be over quick
4:00: Dallas hosts Oakland - another stinkfest. Dallas should own them easily
The only decent game is at night - Giants at Denver - and only NFL Network subscribers, NYers and Colorado residents can see it.
NFL needs to fix this one of these years. My proposal is:
- Since they have those flexible schedule options for the last 8 weeks or so, and Thanksgiving is week 13 - the officials should evaluate the standings and matchups scheduled for Week 12 and Week 13, and move games around accordingly.
I know that Detroit and Dallas have had Thanksgiving games since the beginning of time, and they help with the economy, particularly in Detroit.
So maybe one year Dallas gets it, and the next, Detroit gets, and you alternate it. And the other game becomes a marquee matchup.
Or make the 8 pm nationally televised instead of this NFL Network stuff.
Or maybe none of you care one way or the other

I don't think you need this disclaimer... Detroit and Oakland fans are probably thinking the same thing. Maybe they should play each other!

see, i'd rather watch THAT
i just wanted to put that disclaimer out there - no one likes hearing that their team sucks (e.g. Mets, Jets )
even if we happen to know that it is true
actually the 2009 Jets don't suck yet - but we're getting close to it.

hey don't be talking about my detroit lions! they may stink, but it's the only time i get to watch them without having to go to the bar! it's a tradition and football just the same!

Don, I said the same thing to my DH - I would love to watch the Lions play the Raiders! The fight for who sucks the worst. "Winner" has to play the Browns

hey, i feel ya! As a Jet fan, I know what it's like to have a sub-par team. We're about 1-2 losses away from totally sucking.
We played the Cowboys 2 or 3 years ago on Thanksgiving - it was ugly
I'm all about tradition and the fact that it helps with the local economy. That's why I said they should alternate each year. One year Detroit gets it and then the next year Dallas gets it.
