Question for the full figured moms...

When did you get rid of the double stomach and start to get round? And the bigger question- when did you feel the baby move? I am 16w4d and I haven't felt anything yet. I know it is still early, but I am wondering since there is more of me, if it will take the baby being bigger to feel something.

Re: Question for the full figured moms...

With my 1st I didn't lose the double stomach until almost 8 months. I finally looked pg at that point. I didn't feel movement until about 22 weeks.

This time around at 24 weeks my stomach is finally starting to become more rounded and I felt movement around 19 weeks.

Re: Question for the full figured moms...

You and I sound so much alike (and we're due at the same time too!).

I am "full figured" and I still have the double stomach Chat Icon In fact, just last night I was showing DH my belly and saying, I can't wait for this "indent" to fill in and for my belly to be nice and round.

At 16w1d, I felt what I think were the first movements... I also thought it would take longer to feel anything because I had so much belly fat to begin with, but sure enough, I felt some light flutters, like a little tickling from inside my stomach, below my belly button. Twice that day. And then nothing since. I think it really just depends. AND if you have an anterior placenta where the placenta is like up against your belly, it could take much longer to feel baby (my friend had this and she didn't feel baby move until way past 22 weeks). But hopefully that's not the case for you, just throwing it out there since you shouldn't worry.

Re: Question for the full figured moms...

I'm definitely more than full figured Chat Icon

I still have the double stomach at 19 weeks. However it is starting to round out more.

I started feeling light flutters, like tickles from the inside around 16 almost 17 weeks. Some days I feel them some days I don't.

i have heard it's a little more difficult for plus sized women to feel the movements.

Re: Question for the full figured moms...

This is baby #2 for me I am 13 weeks (14 on Fri) and i can feel the baby move if I am super still and laying on my back. But with DD I couldn't feel her until about 17-18 weeks, i don't think bc I was chunkier bc its an inside feeling like butterfly flutters around 17 18 weeks. My double stomach didn't go away until about 20 weeks. Chat Icon double stomach is a perfect description haha HTH Chat Icon

Re: Question for the full figured moms...

I was lucky and didn't get the double stomach (my tummy isn't my "problem area" though- it's more my hips, thighs and butt Chat Icon )

I'm 20w2d and still haven't felt anything

Re: Question for the full figured moms...

btw - it is considered normal NOT to feel anything until 18-22 weeks. I was at the OB on tuesday (at 15w6d) and my OB said "you arent feeling any movement right?" At that point I wasnt, he told me I probably wouldnt until around 20 weeks. I guess I am just feeling it early Chat Icon

Re: Question for the full figured moms...

I am a former full-figured woman. I say that because I had lost a lot of weight and pre-preg was an 8. However, I never lost the double stomachChat Icon although it got a lot smaller!
I am 30 weeks on Friday and hate to tell you - but still have it!!!Chat Icon Def baby belly on top, and more belly on bottom but still indent at belly button - just want it gone - although it's lessened. I am also carrying a lot smaller than almost 7.5 months pg because baby is laying sideways across my stomach - so I don't know if that's also why it's still there - because I'm not popped out as I should be.

Started feeling movement right before 22 weeks or so - i think - i don't remember.

Re: Question for the full figured moms...

When I had DD, it didn't really go away until the very end. Chat Icon

I didn't feel her move until around 23 weeks last time. I'm 17 weeks now and haven't felt anything yet.

Re: Question for the full figured moms...

Maybe I am too body conscious but I always considered myself fuller figured, I was always all tummy and all boobs.

I had a double tummy till about 22 weeks, that's when I really started to pop.

ETA I felt nothing till week 24 except on a airplane flight at 20 weeks. It was the first time I really felt a kick at 30,000 feet, go figure. Once we landed there was nothing to speak of. I had a lot of gas too, so I didn't think it was the baby.

My doctor made me nervous about it and said "you should feel something by now" But a few days after the appointment, the kicking is just ridiculous. I've even poked my tummy and scolded the baby to tell him to stop kicking mommy so hard when she's trying to sleep. Chat Icon

It'll happen Chat Icon
