Diagnosed with insulin resistance....

So I was diagnosed with insulin resistance put on Metformin. I have been doing a lot of research and I feel that my DR didn't adequately educate me on what insulin resistance is, what it can cause, side effects of the meds, etc. He kinda just threw the PX at me and then pushed me out the door I guess he's busy and all but I do take my health seriously and wonder if he properly diagnosed me after I read some information on the Internet from WebMD, Diabetes.com and more. I have many more precursors that I don't think he took into consideration. He just said, take the Metformin, you will lose weight and it will help your insulin and your calories

Would you get a second opinion or make another appt. w/the DR to go over the diagnosis?

as a type 1 diabetic, that would make me nervous - you need to have some education on insulin resistance, dietary changes, side effects of medication. you should speak to someone else
